New Project in Búzios Pre-Salt Involves Deep-Water Works and Reinforces Partnership with Petrobras
Subsea7 announced the award of a contract classified as “super-major,” exceeding US$ 1.25 billion, to act in the development of the Búzios 11 field, located about 180 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The offshore project, agreed with Petrobras, includes engineering, procurement, and installation of over 100 km of subsea pipelines at depths exceeding 2,000 meters.
Offshore Project Marks New Stage in Búzios Pre-Salt
Subsea7, a global company specialized in subsea engineering, revealed the signing of a new large-scale contract with Petrobras. The initiative focuses on the Búzios 11 field, one of the gems of the Brazilian pre-salt, located in the Santos Basin. According to an official statement from the company published on its corporate website, the contract is classified as “super-major,” a designation for agreements above US$ 1.25 billion.
The scope involves engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of approximately 112 km of rigid risers and flowlines. The operations will take place in ultra-deep waters, which reinforces the complexity and relevance of Subsea7’s expertise in this offshore segment.

Offshore Operations Begin in Brazil, United Kingdom, and France
The engineering and project management activities have already begun, with teams working simultaneously in the company’s offices in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Suresnes (France), and Sutton (United Kingdom). The fabrication of the pipelines is scheduled to take place at Subsea7’s spool base in Brazil, reinforcing the use of national infrastructure in large offshore operations.
The offshore operations are expected to begin between 2027 and 2028, according to the company’s schedule. The project will require high-tech solutions and logistical integration, distinctive characteristics of the high-performance offshore sector.
Búzios Field: Highlight in National Oil Production
Discovered in 2010 and with production started in 2018, the Búzios field is already the second largest in production and reserves in Brazil, second only to the Tupi field.
