Hyundai New Tucson Delivers 177 Horsepower
The Hyundai SUV maintains the 1.6 TGDI gasoline engine with direct injection, along with the automated dual-clutch transmission with seven gears. In the previous model, the engine generated 177 horsepower and 27 mkgf of peak torque.
The known consumption data comes from the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program (PBVE 2023) from Inmetro. The unit presented by Caoa had an A rating in the SUV category and a C rating in the overall ranking. According to the assessment, the New Tucson averages 10.6 km/l in the city and 12.2 km/l on the highway with gasoline.
Being the biggest success of Caoa as Hyundai’s representative, the Tucson has been manufactured in the country since 2010. The first generation of the SUV was in production until 2018, while the ix35 (2nd generation of the model launched with a Chinese name) was made in Brazil until 2021. The New Tucson started local production in 2016. According to Caoa, combining all three generations, the SUV is close to reaching the mark of 200 thousand units produced in the Goiás factory.
Hyundai Ioniq Experiences Significant Price Reduction
In addition to the Hyundai New Tucson, the Ioniq, a hybrid car launched in the Brazilian market in late March of this year for R$ 199,990, also followed the new pricing policy of the CAOA group and became much cheaper. In an official statement issued in August this year, the company claims to have reduced the vehicle’s price by R$ 50 thousand, now offering the model for R$ 149,990, making the Ioniq the cheapest hybrid car in Brazil.
The reduction of the model was possible after a price renegotiation with the South Korean headquarters and aligns with the noticeable improvement in the Brazilian economic scenario in recent months. The electric model Kona EV also benefited from the reduction, going from R$ 229,990 to R$ 189,990, a difference of R$ 40 thousand. It is important to highlight that, although it is R$ 50 thousand cheaper, the Ioniq HEV maintains the same standard of previous equipment.
