The Schedule of Works for the Thermoelectric Power Plant Has Been Presented, Thus New Job and Business Opportunities for Macaé and Surrounding Region Are Open.
The mayor of Macaé, Welberth Rezende, met this week at the construction site of the Marlin Azul thermoelectric plant with the CEO of the ARKE group, owner of the Marlin Azul thermoelectric station, Bruno Chevalier; with the Operations Director, João Lucas Ribeiro, and project manager Rogério de Souza, and presented the schedule of works for the thermoelectric plant (UTE), the possibilities for new business ventures for Macaé and the region. The expectation now is that the project, which will use gas from the pre-salt, generates at least one thousand direct jobs.
The meeting was also attended by the city secretary of Economic Development, Rodrigo Vianna, the secretary of the Environment Juninho Luna, and the secretary of Energy Policies, Tiago Silva.
The Marlin Azul is the first thermoelectric plant that won energy auctions supplied exclusively with gas from the pre-salt. The thermoelectric plant has the capacity to generate 565 megawatts (MW), a power that can serve a population of 2.5 million inhabitants. Therefore, the expectation is for good results from the combination of gas production and generation and sale of electricity, with new job opportunities in these sectors.

The Promise is That Operations at the Marlim Azul Thermoelectric Plant Will Start in 2023
The Marlin Azul thermoelectric plant in Macaé is expected to be completed by the end of 2022, thereby beginning the production and supply of electricity using gas exclusively from the pre-salt, starting in January 2023, with new job opportunities.
The decrease in Covid-19 cases due to vaccinations was a relief for the progress of the works at the plant. The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has been monitoring the stages of construction. Since September 2021, the generator that will make up the production system of the UTE has been on-site. The 500-ton equipment is considered one of the most modern and efficient in the world.
