The Russian company Novatek announced the suspension of operations at a terminal in the Baltic Sea due to a fire that, according to the company, was caused by ‘external influence’. The affected terminal belongs to Novatek, Russia’s largest natural gas producer, as regional authorities reported on Sunday amid reports of explosions and sightings of Ukrainian drones in the area. So far, the company has not provided further details on the circumstances of the fire.

The technological process at Novatek-Ust-Luga was halted, and an operational center was established to eliminate the consequences. The assessment of damage will be conducted later’, the organization said.

The Ust-Luga complex, located in the Gulf of Finland, about 170 km west of Saint Petersburg, processes stable gas condensate into light and heavy naphtha, aviation fuel, fuel oil, and diesel, according to Novatek’s website.
