In a region surrounded by mountains, rivers, and stunning landscapes of Capitólio, in the interior of Minas Gerais, a simple couple preserves ancient farm traditions, produces artisanal cheese, cultivates fruits, and lives a routine that has been enchanting thousands of people on social media.
Amidst the mountains of Minas Gerais, surrounded by natural cliffs, springs, and typical landscapes of the Serra da Canastra, a small farm in Capitólio has been drawing attention for its simplicity, natural beauty, and the moving story of its residents.
The story gained prominence after the release of a video on the content creator Eduardo’s channel, published on February 1st, showing the routine of Mr. Joaquim and Mrs. Augusta in the so-called “Fecho da Serra,” a rural area near Serra da Canastra. According to information released by the channel ‘Diário da Roça’, the couple has lived in the place for decades, maintaining ancient traditions of rural life.
The property, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation, impresses right from the first minutes. Among dairy cows, horses, free-range chickens, fish tanks, a diverse orchard, and artisanal cheese production, the environment seems to preserve a lifestyle increasingly rare in Brazil.

Mr. Joaquim, at 72 years old, still maintains an intense work routine in the field. Early in the morning, he had already milked the cows, taken the cattle, and started the property’s chores even before the arrival of the team that recorded the meeting.

“As long as I can stay on the farm, I will,” said the farmer during the conversation.
The simple life in Capitólio that became an inspiration for thousands of Brazilians
Located in Capitólio, a municipality nationally known for its canyons and waterfalls, Mr. Joaquim’s farm is in an area surrounded by mountains and rich in natural water. The scenery caught the attention of viewers precisely because of the almost untouched appearance of the region.
Additionally, the property maintains ancient practices that still survive in some rural areas of Minas Gerais. The milk collected daily is transformed into artisanal cheese produced by the family. According to the producer, the current production is around three cheeses per day.
Even with a structure considered small by commercial standards, the site has animal breeding, corn, beans, fruits, eucalyptus plantations, and an area dedicated to grape cultivation.
Another detail that caught attention was the diversity of the orchard. During the tour, the producer showed guava, pitaya, acerola, sugar-apple, Brazil nut, banana, jackfruit, and even small apple trees adapted to the region’s climate.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Augusta takes care of the house garden, full of flowers and ornamental plants, something that further reinforced the welcoming atmosphere of the place.
The landscape was highlighted mainly by the mountains surrounding the property. In several moments of the video, it is possible to observe gigantic natural cliffs forming a scenario considered rare even for residents of the region.
The site built with hard work, coffee, and decades of dedication

During the interview, Mr. Joaquim said that the entire property was acquired over the years with a lot of work in the coffee plantation.
According to him, part of the land was inherited from the family, while other areas were later purchased from his brothers. Before that, the producer worked for years in coffee plantations under the rural partnership system, known in Minas as “plantar de meia.”
In this model, the landowner provided the space and part of the structure, while the worker provided the labor. At the end of the production, the profits were shared.
“I bought all of this with my own hands,” the producer said while showing the site.
The story moved many viewers precisely because of the simplicity and honesty present in the account. Even after decades of hard work, the producer remains active in the daily life of the farm.
Additionally, he still uses traditional practices common in past decades. Mr. Joaquim recalled that, in the past, the transportation of goods was done by ox cart or horseback to the city of Capitólio.
According to him, cheese, coffee, and supplies were taken on dirt roads in long and tiring journeys.
The property also holds important family memories. During the recording, the producer showed old photographs of the house where he lived as a child with his parents.
The images helped to reconstruct part of the family’s journey in the region and revealed how rural life has changed in recent decades.
Preserved nature, Minas Gerais tradition, and an increasingly rare routine in Brazil

Another point that drew attention was the couple’s relationship with the animals and the land itself. Mr. Joaquim demonstrated knowledge of every detail of the property, from cattle management to the functioning of the fish tanks and plantations.
The horse named Cipó, used in the daily activities of the farm, appeared several times during the tour and was described by the producer as a true work companion.
Additionally, visitors recorded areas flooded by springs, small dams, rural trails, and preserved vegetation that reinforces the environmental richness of the Capitólio region.
At a certain point, the producer also recalled a significant episode involving a landslide of part of the mountain after heavy rains recently recorded in Minas Gerais.
According to him, January was one of the rainiest months in recent years in the region. As reported during the recording, practically 90% of the month had constant rain.
Even so, the preserved rural scenery and the tranquility of the place impressed those who followed the story.
On social media, many internet users highlighted precisely the sense of peace conveyed by the environment and the simplicity of the Minas Gerais couple.
While large urban centers face traffic, violence, and a fast-paced routine, the simple life in the countryside ended up evoking nostalgia and admiration in thousands of Brazilians.
According to the report published on Eduardo’s channel, the producer does not intend to leave the countryside anytime soon.
“I don’t like the city. I only go to do what needs to be done and then I return,” he stated.
The statement summed up exactly what caught the most attention in the video: the deep connection between man, the land, and a way of living that withstands the test of time.
