The Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) announced the Public Notice No. 19/DEING/2025/1 for the selection process of the specialization course Culture and Sociobiodiversity in Gastronomy. Scheduled to start in the first semester of 2025, the free online course (EAD) is a unique opportunity for professionals who want to enhance their training in areas related to gastronomy, promoting cultural appreciation and food diversity.
Course Objective and Workload
The free online course (EAD) aims to train professionals in the food and related areas to develop actions that value food sociobiodiversity, promoting food sovereignty and security. The training will be conducted in the EAD (distance education) modality, with weekly synchronous classes and asynchronous activities in the Moodle virtual environment. The total workload is 465 hours, including the Final Paper (TCC), and the duration is 18 months.
Available Slots and Segments
There are 40 slots available for the free online course (EAD) at the Florianópolis-Continente campus, distributed across three segments:

Take a free “Drywall Installation” course at SENAI: there are 44 open spots for a 48-hour in-person training, available in the afternoon or evening in São Paulo.

Become an expert in Libras without leaving home and for free at the Federal Institute: online courses, each with 40 hours, certificate in 8 days, basic and intermediate levels, registrations open until 2026.

USP opens 3 thousand spots in a free, 100% online course in the nursing area, with a focus on psychoactive substances, and a recognized certificate at no cost for professionals and students.

Take an engineering course WITHOUT LEAVING home and for free! Universities open enrollment for an online Engineering course recognized by the MEC.
- Segment I: Gastronomy (20 slots)
- Segment II: Related areas, such as Nutrition, Food Science, History, Tourism, among others (12 slots)
- Segment III: Graduations in other areas (8 slots)
Synchronous classes will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
Selection Process
The selection will be conducted through an electronic public draw, ensuring transparency in filling the slots. The draw will be broadcast live on the Federal Institute-IFSC YouTube channel, and the results will be announced on the official website.
Course Registration Requirements
Candidates for the free online course (EAD) must hold a graduation diploma recognized by MEC. It is also necessary to have internet access, a computer to carry out online activities, and availability of approximately 10 to 12 hours per week to dedicate to the course.
