But, while the eastern front of the country continues to resist the Russian invasion, something surprising is happening in the west: the construction of one of the largest ski resorts in Europe. The GORO Mountain Resort, an ambitious £1.2 billion project, is taking shape in the Lviv region, near the border with Poland.

It may seem contradictory, but this investment makes perfect sense. While Ukrainians face challenges in the east, the west of the country remains a hub for reconstruction and hope. This resort is not just a bet on tourism, but a strategy for economic and moral strengthening. After all, what could symbolize more resilience than continuing to build the future even under the shadows of conflict?

Meet The GORO Mountain Resort

The resort in Ukraine will have guaranteed snow year-round, with over 800 acres of artificial snow. There will be 41 amazing slopes for skiers of all levels, in one of the largest ski complexes in Europe!

If you think this is just another ski resort, think again. The GORO Mountain Resort will be massive, with impressive numbers: 25 hotels and 5,500 rooms, ensuring accommodation for tourists from around the world, 41 ski slopes, totaling 46.6 miles of length, 10 miles of modern lifts, and two state-of-the-art gondolas, plus 846 acres of artificial snow inlets, guaranteeing slopes in any weather condition.

A Billion-Dollar Investment And Powerful Partners

The project would not have gotten off the ground without major investors. BlackRock and Goldman Sachs are injecting about £800 million, while OKKO Group, the largest gas station network in Ukraine, invests £400 million.

And when it comes to infrastructure, the resort has the expertise of ILF Group, renowned for its work in ski resorts in New Zealand and Austria. This means we are talking about a structure of international standard, prepared to compete with the best resorts in the world.

The Future Of Ukrainian Tourism

According to Express Co, even in times of uncertainty, Ukraine is betting big on the future. The CEO of OKKO, Vaysl Danylyak, stated that this is a strategic investment for the recovery of the country. And it makes perfect sense.

In addition to being a hub for attracting tourists and investors, the resort could become a center for psychological rehabilitation, offering a refuge for those living through the traumas of war.

With the first phase scheduled to be completed between 2028 and 2029, and the total forecast of 15 years for the completion of the project, the GORO Mountain Resort promises to put Ukraine on the map of international tourism.

I find it absolutely horrandous, that other countries are suffering because of Billions going to Support Ukraine. It will take decades to bring back normalety to these countries. Totally wrong
