Volkswagen is about to revolutionize the Brazilian automotive market with the launch of the much-anticipated A0 SUV, which promises to arrive at an affordable price of R$ 100,000, in addition to “making a strong entry” with a billion-dollar investment. With production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, the vehicle will aim to directly compete with the Fiat Pulse, establishing itself as a competitive and innovative option in the segment, according to the site Auto Esporte.

The company also announced a billion-dollar investment in its factories in Brazil for the next five years. Initially estimated at R$ 5 billion, the amount may now reach the impressive sum of R$ 20 billion. This investment will include the production of the brand’s first hybrid vehicles in the country, as well as the possibility of introducing a national electric model.

The A0 SUV, internally known as VW246, will be produced at the Taubaté (SP) factory, where it will share the MQB A0 platform with the Polo and Polo Track. With a distinctive look, the A0 SUV will inherit much of its bodywork from the Polo, but will have unique features that will set it apart in the market. Its launch is scheduled for March 2025, following the start of mass production in February of the same year.

Amid rumors about the return of the Gol, Volkswagen clarified that the R$ 1 billion investment in the Taubaté factory is exclusively for the production of the A0 SUV, ruling out any possibility of reviving the Gol name for the new vehicle. The brand reinforced its commitment to transparency and denied the speculations, highlighting that official information about the new investment cycle will be released soon.

Additionally, Volkswagen conducted a clinic with potential customers of the A0 SUV, resulting in a vote to choose the vehicle’s name. Among the options, Tera, Therion, and Hera were the only ones patented by the company at Inpi (National Institute of Industrial Property), suggesting that one of them will be the official name of the awaited A0 SUV.
