Volkswagen Prepares Its First Entry-Level Electric SUV With Competitive Pricing And Up To 425 Km Of Range. Produced In Spain, The Model Is Expected To Arrive In 2026 To Compete With Ford, Jeep, And Renault.
The Volkswagen Group revealed ambitious plans for the electrified car market by announcing a compact electric SUV that is expected to cost just over R$ 159,000, a price close to that of combustion models in the same category.
The announcement was made during the IAA Mobility Show in Munich, amid the presentation of the Skoda Epiq concept, which anticipates the future of the segment within the brand’s strategy.
The big news is the estimated pricing positioning of 25,000 euros. This range represents an unprecedented move to democratize access to electric vehicles in Europe, bringing them closer to the audience that currently opts for gasoline or diesel-powered SUVs.

MEB Entry Platform And Production In Spain
The new electric SUV from Volkswagen will be manufactured in Navarra, Spain. The choice is strategic: it reduces costs and leverages the synergy of the group’s components.
The project will be built on the MEB Entry platform, developed for smaller and more accessible electric vehicles. This same base will serve future models from the ID. family, such as the ID. Polo and ID. Cross, as well as the Epiq itself. This standardization ensures scalability, reduces production time, and facilitates global expansion of the electric line.
Promising Range And Powertrain
According to information from Skoda, the electric SUV will have a range of up to 425 km on the WLTP cycle, a competitive standard for its category. The official power hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the expectation is that the model will use a front motor with 211 hp, a configuration already known in other Volkswagen cars.
Measuring 4.10 meters in length, the compact SUV promises enough space for five passengers and a trunk with 475 liters of capacity. The brand also highlighted practical daily-use solutions, such as hooks, hidden compartments, and internal fastening points.
The model will be Skoda’s first to adopt the Modern Solid design language, which prioritizes clean and robust lines. The front features the “Tech-Deck” signature, LED headlights in T-shape, and a squared rear that conveys solidity.
During the presentation, the prototype was shown in a matte Cashmere color, with exclusive wheels and shiny black details. Although images of the interior have not been released, it is believed that the vehicle will follow the line of Volkswagen ID., with an 11-inch digital dashboard, a 13-inch multimedia center, and wireless charging for phones.
When it arrives in the European market in 2026, Volkswagen’s electric SUV will face strong competitors. Among them are the Ford Puma Gen-E, Jeep Avenger, Kia EV2, Mini Aceman, and Renault 4 E-Tech.
