Specialist Celso Camilo states that AI should take over mechanical tasks, while humans resume strategic roles in companies

Artificial intelligence has ceased to be just a technical tool and has come to occupy the center of corporate decisions. Now, according to computer scientist Celso Camilo, the future of business may depend less on human robotization and more on the so-called de-robotization.

As published by Exame on May 18, 2026, Camilo will be one of the names at the AI Summit 2026, an event promoted by Exame and the Saint Paul Business School in São Paulo, on June 2, 2026. At the meeting, he will argue that machines should take over repetitive, operational, and standardized tasks.

Furthermore, the specialist claims that this change frees leaders and professionals for activities that technology still does not replicate accurately. Among them are empathy, critical thinking, complex negotiation, creativity, and market intuition.

How de-robotization changes work in companies

According to Celso Camilo, the Industrial Revolution robotized people by placing them in mechanical roles. Now, however, artificial intelligence allows this logic to be reversed. Thus, the machine handles the scale, while the human reclaims the space of the scarce.

In practice, algorithms process large volumes of data, quickly cross variables, and automate bureaucratic routines. Meanwhile, professionals can focus on strategic decisions, human relations, and creative solutions.

Why Celso Camilo supports this new model

Camilo holds a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence and has served as a visiting researcher at Carnegie Mellon in the United States and at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in the United Arab Emirates.

Moreover, his journey in the field began well before the popularization of generative AI. In 2003, his master’s thesis already addressed multi-agent systems, a technology in which different AI programs collaborate to solve complex problems.

Later, in 2019, he helped found SEIA, the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at the Federal University of Goiás. The center structured the first AI undergraduate program in Brazil and became the largest hub in the area in Latin America.

AI Summit 2026 aims to bring technology and leadership closer

Currently, the SEIA brings together more than 1,200 specialists dedicated to developing practical solutions in artificial intelligence. Additionally, Camilo is involved in projects with more than 60 national and international companies.

Therefore, at the AI Summit 2026, the researcher intends to discuss how AI can move from the technical field to real business strategy. After all, for him, technological advancement should strengthen companies without erasing the human factor.

In this way, the so-called de-robotization of the human emerges as a central thesis for the corporate future. The question that remains is: will companies know how to use artificial intelligence to make work more human?
