Havan began construction of a R$ 90 million megastore in São Miguel do Oeste, in the Far West of Santa Catarina. Luciano Hang received the permit this Monday (1st) and targets consumers from SC, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Argentina at the border.
Havan is ready to build another megastore in the South of the country. This Monday (1st), businessman Luciano Hang was in São Miguel do Oeste, in the Far West of Santa Catarina, and received the permit that officially authorizes the start of construction of the project, budgeted at R$ 90 million.
The new unit will have about 10,000 square meters and was designed for much more than the city: the strategic location, near the border, targets consumers from Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and even Argentina. For Hang, this is one of the most important investments in the current expansion plan of the network.
The Havan megastore in São Miguel do Oeste

The future store will be in a strategic point of São Miguel do Oeste, at the roundabout of BR-282, at the intersection with SC-163, in the Santa Rita neighborhood, between Willy Barth Avenue and Ulysses Guimarães Highway. With about 10,000 square meters, the megastore will follow the national standard of the network, with free parking, a food court, more than 350,000 items for sale, and the traditional Statue of Liberty, a symbol of Havan stores.

Thousands of houses in Brazil have slabs and pillars concreted with construction site mixers, and most owners are unaware that, without strict control of the dosage, this can compromise the structure’s strength and create risks that only appear years later, according to engineers and technical standards.

Instead of demolishing old coal warehouses, London doubled their roofs until they met in the center and created one of the most curious renovations in King’s Cross.
The construction permit was delivered by Mayor Edenilson Zanardi during Luciano Hang‘s visit to the site. The earthworks began on May 19, and the company’s expectation is to complete the structure at an accelerated pace, with the opening scheduled for the last months of this year. According to the businessman, receiving the document marks the beginning of a new stage, where the works finally come off the paper.
Eyeing Argentina and the border region
The bet of Havan goes far beyond the local consumer. Located about 90 kilometers from the border, the megastore was positioned to attract shoppers from the entire region, including the audience from Argentina, who already tend to cross the border in search of competitive prices. For the company, this proximity is a differentiator capable of transforming the unit into a shopping reference in the border region.
The strategy is summarized by Luciano Hang himself, who states that he does not build a store just for the city, but for the entire region. When announcing the investment, the entrepreneur even classified the venture as one of the most important in the expansion and said that São Miguel do Oeste will receive, in his words, “the most beautiful store in Brazil,” betting on the consumption potential of people from Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Argentina.
What the project represents for the local economy
Besides the impact on retail, the construction of the megastore is expected to boost the regional economy. The company’s expectation is to generate around 200 direct jobs, in addition to indirect opportunities related to construction, transportation, food, and service provision. For a municipality that is already one of the main economic hubs of the Extreme West of Santa Catarina, the arrival of the network is seen as a reinforcement of its commercial vocation.
Considered a strong city with regional influence, São Miguel do Oeste has been attracting new investments in recent years. In the evaluation of Luciano Hang, the arrival of Havan boosts the economy, generates jobs, and attracts new businesses, expanding the municipality’s influence over cities in Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, and over the consumer market of Argentina.
The accelerated expansion of Havan
The project in São Miguel do Oeste fits into a moment of aggressive growth for the network, which will complete 40 years in 2026. The company maintains several megastores under construction at the same time and aims to reach the mark of 200 units in operation, with presence in all states of the country. The city in Santa Catarina had been in Havan‘s plans for almost a decade, with the purchase of the land confirmed in February and environmental licenses released in May.
Even so, caution is advised. The inauguration deadline for the end of this year is an expectation of the company itself, and the sector’s history shows that the interval between licensing and opening can vary according to the logistics of the project and market conditions. For now, what is confirmed is the start of construction of the megastore, with Luciano Hang promising to return to São Miguel do Oeste for the inauguration.
The new megastore of Havan promises to shake up commerce across the entire border, attracting even consumers from Argentina.
