WSUT Wins Award from Petrobras for Excellence in Maritime Logistics and Safety, with a 20-Year Partnership and a Modern Fleet of 22 Vessels.

WSUT has been internationally recognized, being awarded by Petrobras for its world-class safety and efficiency in maritime logistics. The company has maintained a long-lasting partnership for two decades, showcasing its commitment to excellence in its operations. With a modern fleet comprising 22 vessels, WSUT continues to lead the sector, winning awards for its safety practices and capacity to support activities in the oil and gas.

WSUT’s success can also be attributed to its ongoing partnership with Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore, which has been crucial in achieving such recognitions. Together, the companies provide innovative and safe solutions, resulting in the continuous satisfaction of their clients and partners. Awarded for the second consecutive time as the best supplier, WSUT reinforces its central role in supporting Petrobras operations, highlighting its commitment to excellence in all aspects of its maritime operations.

WSUT and Recognition in the Maritime Logistics Sector

The Suppliers category of Petrobras in the Maritime Logistics segment includes over 40 companies operating in the Brazilian market. Throughout its 7th edition, the Award highlighted those suppliers that played a crucial role in terms of ‘performance on time, management, quality, health, environment, security, and value generation’. This honorable recognition reaffirms WSUT’s prominent position in the market.

WSUT, a joint venture between Wilson Sons and Ultratug, is an example of excellence in safety worldwide. Wilson Sons is the largest operator in port and maritime logistics in Brazil, with over 186 years of significant presence in the sector. Ultratug is part of the Chilean group Ultranav.

WSUT: Partnership and Advances in the Oil Industry

Holding one of the largest and most modern maritime fleets in operation in the country, WSUT has solidified its partnership of over 20 years with Petrobras. Currently, it has a fleet of 22 vessels under the Brazilian flag dedicated to supporting exploration and production activities for oil and gas, not only for Petrobras but also for other companies in the sector. The Petrobras award highlights WSUT’s strategic commitment to operational excellence. Thus, WSUT stands out in its constant pursuit of high safety standards and fleet efficiency.

This recognition reaffirms the fundamental importance of Brazilian maritime support navigation for the development of the offshore sector and the economy of the country as a whole. In addition to being recognition of the expertise of the WSUT team, as emphasized by Gustavo Machado, Executive Director, the company received the Petrobras Award in the presence of executives during ROG.E 2024 (formerly Rio Oil & Gas).

Future Expectations and Continuous Development at WSUT

With the current scenario characterized by increased demand for OSV chartering driven by significant investments in the oil and gas chain encompassing exploration, development, and production activities, the outlook for the next five years is quite optimistic for WSUT. Gustavo Machado mentions that the maritime support market, which is already experiencing a promising moment, is projected for demand growth that is expected to persist. This is especially anticipated with the unlocking of investments in operations such as the Equatorial Margin and offshore wind power generation.

The range of vessels from Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore includes everything from LSVs to PSVs with different capacities and propulsion systems, ensuring adaptability and efficiency in meeting client demands. With a total of 22 contracted vessels, the company positions itself as an important player in the sector.

Talent Development and Commitment to Safety at WSUT

To foster talent, WSUT, with approximately 900 employees, invests significantly in continuous training, prioritizing a safety culture. Only in 2023, 50,000 man-hours of training were conducted as part of a robust continuous development and recognition program, revealing the company’s commitment to valuing its team and operational excellence.

Wilson Sons UltraTug Offshore (WSUT) stands out as a strategic partnership of 50% between Ultratug and Wilson Sons, both leaders in the sector.
