Federal selection process opens distance learning vacancies in Public Administration with criteria based on academic history and public service experience, distribution in centers in Rio Grande do Sul and start scheduled for the second semester of 2026.

The Federal University of Rio Grande has opened applications for 150 vacancies in the EAD Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, a free course offered within the scope of the Open University of Brazil System.

Admission is scheduled for the second semester of 2026, with classes starting on August 3.

The selection process is governed by Public Notice nº 8, of April 10, 2026, and accepts applications until May 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

Applications must be made exclusively online, on the Coperse/FURG portal, with a participation fee of R$ 50.

Who can compete for FURG vacancies

The selection is exclusively for active public agents, at municipal, state, or federal levels, provided they have completed high school or equivalent by the application date.

According to the public notice, this public includes workers in areas such as health, education, public budget, environmental management, public management, infrastructure, public security, regulation, competition, auditing, federative relations, national defense, and social assistance, among other related areas.

The training will be offered in distance learning mode, but it will not be entirely remote.

The public notice provides for mandatory participation in in-person activities at support centers, including academic meetings and evaluations.

In-person centers in Rio Grande do Sul

The vacancies are distributed across seven cities in Rio Grande do Sul.

The in-person support centers are located in Agudo, Hulha Negra, Novo Hamburgo, Picada Café, São José do Norte, Sapucaia do Sul, and Santa Vitória do Palmar.

In-person activities will primarily take place on weekdays in the evening or on Saturdays, during daytime shifts.

The schedule must be defined by the university and the centers throughout the course.

In addition to academic activities, the course requires mandatory curricular internship.

According to the public notice, this stage must not exceed a distance of 80 km from the municipality of the center, following the rule of FURG’s Distance Education Secretariat.

How candidates will be selected

Candidate classification will be done by analyzing the Letter of Intent and Academic Transcript.

The Letter of Intent will account for 30% of the final grade, while the Academic Transcript will account for 70% of the score.

The Letter of Intent is eliminatory.

To proceed in the selection process, the candidate must achieve a minimum score of 2.0 points in this stage, equivalent to 20% of the expected score for the evaluation.

The final score will be calculated by the weighted sum of the two stages.

In case of a tie, the first criterion will be the highest score in the Academic Transcript; then, the highest score in the Letter of Intent; followed by the oldest age.

Dates and stages of the official schedule

The preliminary list of approved applications will be released by June 2, 2026.

Those with pending issues may supplement their documentation between June 3 and 7, with results expected on June 10.

The final list of approved applications will be published on June 15, 2026.

The preliminary disclosure of individual scores per stage is scheduled for June 30, with a deadline for appeal on July 1.

The results of score appeals are expected on July 3, 2026.

The Final General Classification List will be released by July 7, and the call for approved candidates is scheduled for July 8.

Enrollment and start of classes in August

Enrollment requests will be made online between July 8 and 12, 2026, through the system indicated by FURG.

Document analysis will occur on July 13 and 14, with results on July 15.

Those who need to supplement documents can submit them on July 15 and 16.

The result of the supplementation is expected on July 20, the same date reserved for appeals in case of enrollment denial.

The final enrollment result is expected to be published on July 24, 2026.

According to the official schedule, the start of classes for the second semester of 2026 is set for August 3, 2026.

FURG also establishes that if the number of enrolled students does not reach 70% of the vacancies offered per course and per campus, the university may cancel the campus and reallocate students to another unit.

If there are remaining vacancies after the conclusion of the selection process, the institution may publish a supplementary notice.

In this case, the remaining opportunities may be open to the general public who do not qualify as public agents.

How to apply for the FURG selection process

Registration must be done through the online form provided by Coperse/FURG.

The candidate needs to fill in the requested data, send the required documentation, and pay the fee, except in cases of granted exemption.

The period to request exemption ended on May 3, 2026.

For candidates without exemption, the registration fee can be paid until May 22, 2026, one day after the registration deadline.

The university informs that documentation submitted outside the online form will not be accepted.

It will also not be permitted to change the competition modality after the close of registrations.
