Highway SP-255 Between Rincão and Araraquara Is Duplicated With an Investment of R$ 150 Million and Promise of More Safety and Agility in Traffic.
The Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, delivered on this Monday (21) the duplication of 29 kilometers of Highway SP-255, between Rincão and Araraquara.
The project is part of the SP for Every Work program and was carried out by the concessionaire Arteris ViaPaulista. The modernized section goes from kilometer 48+100 to 77+100.
Investment and Job Creation
The duplication involved an investment of R$ 150 million. According to the government, the works generated more than 390 jobs, both direct and indirect.

The governor emphasized that the new structure improves road safety and reduces travel time. “The journey between Ribeirão Preto and Araraquara, for example, now takes 45 minutes, it used to take one hour,” he stated.
Direct Benefits to Four Municipalities
About 300,000 people will directly benefit from the project. The new segment includes two lanes, a shoulder, and two grade-separated overpasses.
Additionally, five existing interchanges were remodeled and expanded. The impacted cities are Araraquara, Américo Brasiliense, Santa Lúcia, and Rincão.
Traffic Safety Is One of the Highlights
The duplication of SP-255 also focuses on safety. The expectation is to reduce the number of frontal and lateral collisions, which are common on single-lane roads. “Every time the road system is improved, more investments are attracted,” said Tarcísio de Freitas, reinforcing the impact of infrastructure on regional development.
Highway Is a Strategic Link in the State
Antônio Machado Sant’Anna Highway (SP-255) is considered essential for São Paulo’s road network. It connects Franca to the border with Paraná, passing through strategic cities and interconnecting with other important highways such as SP-310, SP-225, SP-300, and SP-280.
The project is part of the São Paulo for Every Work program, which aims to modernize state and local highways.
With a total investment of R$ 30 billion, the initiative covers more than 21,000 kilometers of roads and over 1,500 public and private works throughout the state.
