The installation of the 90-ton ring, formed by 15 steel segments, was one of the most complex phases and took 57 days. The works began in March 2026, but the Ferris wheel still depends on the mechanical, electrical systems and cabins, with the inauguration only scheduled for the second semester.

The It! Wheel Ferris wheel, which is being built in Itapema, on the coast of Santa Catarina, has reached an important milestone in the construction. According to NSC Total, the structure completed the installation of the main ring, one of the most complex phases of the assembly, and is moving at a fast pace towards the inauguration, scheduled for the second semester of 2026. The project is valued at R$ 50 million.

When completed, the Ferris wheel is expected to be 60 meters high and offer a view of the beaches of Itapema and neighboring Porto Belo. According to the report, the ride is expected to last 18 minutes, in a structure with 30 cabins. The equipment is manufactured by Juma Rides, and the works began in March 2026.

The recent major step for the Itapema Ferris wheel was the installation of the main ring, the steel circle that supports the entire rotation system. According to NSC Total, this is one of the most complex phases of the assembly. The complete ring weighs about 90 tons and was erected over 57 days.

The structure is formed by 15 steel segments, joined by bolts, which together close the large circle of the attraction. According to the report, throughout the assembly, a team specialized in topography monitored the work to ensure alignment and precision. Now, the works are advancing to the installation of the mechanical, electrical components and cabins.

According to the responsible company, the Ferris wheel’s rim was made with galvanized steel and received a special coating to better withstand the climate. According to NSC Total, the structure will also have a corrosion protection system, designed to increase the durability of materials in a coastal environment. The cabins will be attached to the rim through curved supports.

When operational, the Ferris wheel is expected to reach 60 meters in height and offer a view of the Itapema and Porto Belo shorelines. According to the report, the expectation of It! Wheel is to establish itself as one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in the city, with the promise of a panoramic view. For now, however, these points remain projections, as the attraction is still under construction.

The R$ 50 million investment and the 30 cabins

The It! Wheel Ferris wheel has a total estimated investment of R$ 50 million, according to the report. Thirty cabins will be installed, with plans to customize six of them with a romantic theme, aimed at couples. One will be designated for families and birthdays, another four will be linked to sponsors, and the rest will be standard.

The equipment is manufactured by Juma Rides, described as the largest Ferris wheel manufacturer in the world. According to NSC Total, work began in March 2026. The report also highlights that Itapema is noted as the city with the most valued square meter in Brazil, which helps explain the investment in high-end tourism.

A new tourist symbol still under construction

The Ferris wheel is regarded as the new tourist symbol of Itapema, but there are still stages ahead. With the main rim installed, the mechanical and electrical systems and the installation of the cabins are still needed before the attraction can operate. The inauguration, according to the report, is only expected in the second half of 2026.

These next phases will determine if the It! Wheel will fulfill its promises of height, view, and timeline. For now, what exists concretely is the mega steel structure already erected by the sea, giving an idea of the size the attraction will have. The rest, including the promised 18-minute experience, depends on the progress of the construction.

The installation of the 90-ton rim shows that the Ferris wheel in Itapema has moved from the drawing board to taking shape by the sea. If the schedule is followed, the It! Wheel is expected to debut in the second half of 2026 as a new tourist attraction on the Santa Catarina coast, standing 60 meters tall with views of Itapema and Porto Belo. Until then, the construction continues at a fast pace, step by step.

And you, would you take an 18-minute ride at the top of this Ferris wheel to see the shores of Itapema and Porto Belo? Comment on what you think and exchange ideas with other readers about the new attraction.
