In order to continue holding the title of the cheapest tariff in Brazil, Coopera will invest in works for the construction of a new energy substation

Cooperativa Pioneira de Electrificação (Coopera), owner of the lowest the energy do Brasil, with a value of R$ 0,40303 per MWh, will further enhance the energy service, security and fair price, investing R$ 75 million in the works of the new substation until the year 2024.

According to Walmir Rampinelli, president of Coopera, there is an ongoing project to deliver the substation on the Jorge Lacerda highway, to serve the entire region of the industrial district of Criciúma.

With the new substation, the municipality will receive energy from the CTG (Gaucho Traditions Center) Pedro Raymundo. As the company's president assures us, “we need a supply of quality energy”. In the previous 12 years, Coopera allocated more than R$ 100 million to renovation and expansion of electricity distribution networks in Brazil.

Over these 12 years, they were built in the Brazil two power substations, one in Forquilhinha and the other in Nova Veneza. In addition to these constructions, the work on the PCH (Small Hydroelectric Plant) will be completed.

Part of Coopera's investment will be allocated to a social project of the company

The rest of Coopera's investment will be turned to Integra Coopera, a space dedicated to the education and creation of cooperative members and the local community. In the opinion of the company's president, the social project's objective is not only to obtain capital. The company's project includes handicraft courses, guitar, English, German, Italian, cooking courses, massage therapy, and also has a cooperative women's club.

A company returned to its consumers, in May, around BRL 5 million for the year 2021. “What happened was the distribution of results, impacting around 50% reduction in the electricity bill of our members, according to the contribution of 2021″, explains the company's president.

Coopera has 63 years of experience in the market

The company, founded in January 1959, in Brazil, when the municipality of Forquilhinha was still part of Criciúma, came to help companies and industries in rural areas, since the Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina (Celesc) decided not to take over the management of energy in the region.

In 2017, the energy distributor in Brazil was spun off, creating the Cooperativa Pioneira de Geração e Desenvolvimento. The objective of COOPERA GD is the growth of the development of new activities, such as electrical solutions, generation of electrical energy, among other services to its consumers and also to society.

In 2018, COOPERA GD started its operations to provide internet services with COOPERA Telecom Ltda and in January 2019 it started operating Coopera Soluções Eléctricas, as a distributor of electrical materials and electrical hardware.

Today, Coopera Soluções Eléctricas is one of the largest distributors of electrical materials in the south of the State of Santa Catarina.

For president Walmir Rampinelli, the objective was to bring energy to the interior of the state, where the concessionaire, at the time, had no interest in investing. With that, 63 years ago, 62 men and women formed and founded Coopera, recalls the president. Currently, the company has 130 employees.

In Santa Catarina, the cooperative serves Forquilhinha, Nova Veneza, the southern region of Criciúma and a small part of the municipality of Maracajá. According to the company's general manager, Rogério Braz Feller, the company has a very strong manufacturing field and this gives them a great responsibility to supply energy both in quantity and quality.
