Cooperval, or Cooperativa Agroindustrial Vale do Ivaí Ltda., is a cooperative headquartered in the municipality of Jandaia do Sul, in Paraná. It was founded on July 5, 1980, by a group of farmers. It stands out in the production of corn ethanol, promoting regional development. Cooperval operates in various areas, including the production of alcohol, corn, and sugar, focused on offering products based on these raw materials.
As a cooperative, Cooperval is collectively owned by its members, who are typically farmers and rural producers from the region. The cooperative model means that there are no “owners” in the traditional sense, but cooperatives who share both management and profits of the company. This model is designed to benefit its members and support agricultural and economic development in the local community.
Cooperval is recognized for its significant contribution to the biofuels industry, being authorized by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) to produce ethanol.
