As part of a global repositioning plan involving divestitures of around €21 billion (R$ 115 billion), Copel has already emerged as a potential buyer of the distribution company in Ceará (formerly Coelce). Shortly after Enel put its distribution business in Ceará (formerly Coelce) up for sale as part of a global repositioning plan involving divestitures of around €21 billion (R$ 115 billion), Copel has already emerged as a potential buyer of the asset.
The CEO of the Paraná-based company, Daniel Slaviero, told Estadão/Broadcast that the real-time news system of Grupo Estado “does intend to look at this asset,” adding that one of the goals of the strategic plan presented yesterday to investors and analysts was to acquire a distributor outside of Paraná.
“If opportunities arise in this segment, we will look more actively,” said the executive during Copel Day 2022 in São Paulo. Previously, he had told investors that he intended to grow in this segment but had not specified any asset.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.

Copel Is Already Active in the Northeast, But in Generation. It Recently Started Operating the Jandaíra Wind Complex in Rio Grande do Norte.
Although there seems to be no direct synergy between the generation assets in the Northeast and the potential acquisition in distribution, the company believes that it could create a nucleus for further investments in wind farms in the future. “Another large cluster can be created there to expand wind and solar energy,” he said.
Regarding Amazonas Energia, Slaviero denied interest: “No, it’s very far off.”
Auction
The CEO of Copel says he has no plans to participate in the transmission auction scheduled for November, but the company is interested in expanding in this segment.
Throughout the event, the Copel team expressed interest in acquiring an additional 2,000 kilometers of transmission lines in the future but was concerned that the projects would be profitable.
