Jean Paul Prates Says the Fate of the Fertilizer Plants in Três Lagoas (MS) and Camaçari (BA) Will Depend on the Reconfiguration in the New Strategic Plan.
The president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, announced that the strategy for the fertilizer factories in Três Lagoas (MS) and Camaçari (BA) will be defined in the new business plan 2024-2028. He emphasized that the reconfiguration of these plants will be crucial for the future of fertilizer-related projects. During the launch event of the company’s socio-environmental project call, Prates informed that Petrobras will allocate a budget of R$ 1 billion over the next four years for these projects.
2024-2028 Business Plan of the Lula Government in Preparation
The Lula government is working on the preparation of the first strategic business plan, which is expected to be announced later this month.
Recently, Unigel, the lessee of the fertilizer plants of Petrobras in Bahia and Sergipe, informed the local union that it intends to halt operations at the Bahia unit.

The president of Petrobras, Prates, announced that the company will seek to engage communities that depend on the sea economy in the company’s future offshore wind projects, promoting a positive impact on local communities.
Recently, questions arose regarding the lease agreements made between local communities and the land-based wind generation projects. These questions are related to possible imbalances in these contracts, raising concerns about the impact of these ventures on local populations.
The company responsible for the projects has pending environmental licensing requests with Ibama to develop 23 gigawatts (GW) in its own projects, in addition to another 7 GW in partnership with Equinor. The goal, according to the executive, is to ensure a fair energy transition, which involves effective engagement of the communities in the development of the projects.
