It is the third batch of declassified records on unidentified aerial phenomena, within the PURSUE program, created after Donald Trump ordered agencies to release UFO files. The reports range from an object over Colorado to a red sphere in 2025, but none prove extraterrestrial life, only unexplained cases.
The United States Department of Defense has released a third batch of declassified files on unidentified aerial phenomena, with nothing in the documents proving extraterrestrial life or any cover-up. According to the material, there are 72 records describing inexplicable sightings reported by military personnel, federal agents, and foreign observers. Instead of confirming the existence of beings from another planet, the texts detail cases that investigators could not explain.
According to the report, the disclosure is part of the PURSUE program. The program was created after President Donald Trump directed federal agencies to identify, review, and declassify records related to UFOs, the so-called UAP, and any potential extraterrestrial activity. The files, however, deal with unresolved cases, meaning incidents where the available data is insufficient to define the nature of the object.
What the Department of Defense released and what it does not prove
The central point of the disclosure is precisely what it does not bring. According to the material, the Department of Defense added 72 files on unidentified anomalous phenomena, the so-called UAP, with sightings reported by military personnel, federal agents, and observers from other countries.

Even so, the documents do not present proof of extraterrestrial life or a government cover-up, but rather details of cases that remain without a conclusive explanation.
Unresolved cases have a specific definition. According to the Department of Defense, these are incidents where the available data is insufficient to determine the nature of the object or phenomenon observed. So far, the declassification effort conducted by the Trump administration has released about 300 files on UAP, some from the 1940s, and new batches are expected to be released in future stages.
The Potato-Shaped Object Over a Mountain in Colorado
One of the most detailed reports came from Colorado. According to the material, in February 2022, five U.S. Army soldiers based at Fort Carson, near Colorado Springs, claimed to have seen an unusual object hovering over Cheyenne Mountain.
An FBI document records that “the object was potato-shaped, with well-defined edges,” in a whitish cream tone, and witnesses compared it to fish scales or panels, asymmetrical and irregularly shaped.
The episode ended without images and without a definitive answer. According to the report, the object remained stationary for about two minutes before disappearing, without anyone capturing a photo or video. Investigators later assessed, with low confidence, that it could have been sunlight reflecting on the snow illuminating the clouds, but witnesses reported clear skies, and no evidence of balloons, aircraft, or known foreign technology was found. The case remained without confirmation of extraterrestrial origin.
Orbs That Multiply and a Red Sphere with Plasma Sun
Other reports involve lights that change and split in the sky. According to the material, in October 2023, six federal agents claimed to have repeatedly observed bright orbs in shades of orange and red above a ridge, which at times seemed to generate smaller orbs.
An analysis by the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office, linked to the Pentagon, evaluated explanations such as nearby military exercises and flare launches, considered these hypotheses plausible but inconclusive, and admitted that the observations could involve “unrecognized technology.”
The most recent batch also includes a case from 2025. According to an FBI report, in the northeastern United States, a witness saw a bright red sphere near a wooded area, with what appeared to be a “white plasma sun” the size of a basketball in its center. The person reported that a second sphere appeared before both vanished silently, and the White House later shared the video of the case online. None of this, however, was presented as proof of extraterrestrial life.
A Disc in Zimbabwe and What’s Yet to Come
Among the oldest files, there is a case outside the United States. According to the material, a CIA report on Zimbabwe, from 2008, describes witnesses near the country’s main airport who saw a disc-shaped object with rotating lights, from which beams seemed to emanate at one point. It’s the kind of report that fuels curiosity, but like the others, it was not confirmed as extraterrestrial activity.
The government’s promise is to continue opening the files. According to the report, the declassification effort has already released about 300 documents on UAP, some from the 1940s, and the Department of War stated that more records will come as reviews progress. It is worth repeating what the documents themselves say: none of them prove extraterrestrial life or cover-up, they only gather sightings that remain unexplained due to lack of data.
The third batch from the Department of War gathers striking images, from the potato-shaped object over Colorado to the multiplying orbs and the red sphere with plasma sun, in an effort that has already released about 300 files.
Even so, by the admission of the documents themselves, nothing there proves extraterrestrial life or a cover-up, and the cases remain unsolved due to lack of data. The mystery remains open, which is not the same as confirming an extraterrestrial origin.
And you, what do you believe is behind these sightings, natural phenomena, still unknown technology, or something truly extraterrestrial?
