The Deepwater Titan, the world’s second 8th generation drilling ship built by Sembcorp Marine, has been delivered to Transocean’s subsidiary, Triton Titan.
The Deepwater Titan is the first unit to be delivered with two 20,000 psi blowout preventers, well control systems, risers, and piping for high-pressure and high-temperature drilling and completion operations, as claimed by Sembcorp Marine. The vessel is based on the Jurong Espadon 3T design owned by the company.

About The Capacity Of This Transocean Drillship
The ship has a lifting capacity of three million pounds, can drill to a depth of forty thousand feet, and can operate in waters up to twelve thousand feet deep.

The Deepwater Titan, the world’s second 8th generation ultra-deepwater drilling ship and the first with 20,000 psi BOPs, has been delivered to Transocean, and its success is a testament to Sembcorp Marine’s proven expertise in providing innovative and differentiated drilling ships for the offshore industry, as stated by Wong Weng Sun, president and CEO of Sembcorp Marine.
Sembcorp Marine states that the partnership with Transocean has resulted in the completion of two innovative drillships that are expanding the horizons of offshore drilling and setting new standards for the industry.
New Concepts Have Been Applied To The Design Of This Unit, Says Sembcorp
The Singapore company claims that its new ship will revolutionize the offshore drilling industry.
The Deepwater Atlas, the first newly built 8th generation drillship, was delivered in June, and now the Deepwater Titan has also been delivered.
“The most advanced of their kind in the industry,” said William Gu, head of platforms and floaters at Sembcorp Marine, “both drillships – built on the Jurong Espadon 3T design owned by the Group – represent the next generation of ultra-deepwater assets with innovative features, including a hook load capacity of three million pounds and greener capabilities that set new industry standards.”
