Platform P-82 Will Be One of the Largest FPSOs to Operate in the Global Industry, With a Capacity to Produce Up to 225 Thousand Barrels of Oil Per Day
One week after signing a contract with Keppel for the construction of unit P-83, which will be the eleventh FPSO to operate in the Búzios field, in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin, Petrobras today, 10/04, signed a contract with Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters for the construction of platform P-82. The Brazilian oil company did not share any details about the contract value.
Like P-82, P-83, a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) platform, will be one of the largest to operate in the global oil and gas industry, with a capacity to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process up to 12 million m³ of gas/day – in addition to storing more than 1.6 million barrels.
Scheduled to begin operations in 2026, P-82 will be the tenth platform to be installed in Búzios, where Petrobras is the operator, holding a 96.6% stake in the field, with CNOOC and CNODC as partners, each with 3.7%.

Platforms P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77 Are Already Producing Oil in Búzios, the Largest Deepwater Field in the World!
Búzios, the largest deepwater field in the world, will have a total of 11 platforms. Currently, four units are already in operation (P-74, P-75, P-76, and P-77), another four are under construction (FPSO Almirante Barroso; FPSO Almirante Tamandaré; P-78 and P-79) and two more have had contracts recently signed for construction (P-80 and P-83).
“P-82 will be the 29th unit to enter production in the pre-salt and is part of Petrobras’s new generation of platforms, which are characterized by high production capacity and innovative low-carbon technologies,” the statement says.
The platform will also be equipped with CCUS technology – Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage CO2. The state-owned company is a pioneer in the use of this technology, which allows for increased productivity while reducing carbon emissions.
