The Line’s Progress: Transformation in the Saudi Desert Aiming to Host 450,000 Inhabitants by 2026

In a recent update via LinkedIn, Giles Pendleton, head of development for the The Line project, part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Neom city plan, challenged critics by revealing significant progress in the construction of this future megacity that has already completed over 20% of its construction.

How Is The Line Project Progressing?

Pendleton shared aerial photographs documenting the scale of ongoing excavations and constructions, providing a glimpse into the development of this city that promises to redefine urban life in the desert. He also highlighted that there is an ongoing project for the construction of a floating city in the region.

The released images showcase construction efforts not only at The Line, with its planned 170 kilometers cutting through the desert, but also in key areas like the Oxagon port on the Red Sea, where it is being constructed and the luxury resort on Sindalah Island. These constructions are fundamental pieces of the puzzle that is Neom, highlighting the temporary habitat for the workers making this dream a reality.

Neom positions itself as a vision for the future, aiming to house up to nine million inhabitants by 2045, starting with 450,000 in 2026. This project, endorsed by Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aims to be a model of sustainability, operating entirely on renewable energy sources like solar and wind. With a projected investment of $500 billion, Neom intends to be a solution for population growth, reducing waste and minimizing environmental impact.

The Line is a revolutionary concept that promises a new way of living in urban spaces.
