Conflicts between the Bolsonaro Government and Petrobras are bringing results, albeit minimal, and the state-owned company is starting to reduce the price of diesel in the country's refineries by R$ 0,20 this week, subsequently influencing the final value for consumers.

As of this Friday, (05/08), the price of a liter of diesel in Brazilian refineries to distributors will be reduced by R$ 0,20 by the state company Petrobras, after a series of pressures carried out by the Federal Government and the President Jair Bolsonaro himself aiming at a reduction in the values of the fuel. This is the first reduction since May 2021 and, although small, it will bring changes to the final consumer later.

Diesel price at Brazilian refineries to distributors drops R$ 0,20 this Friday after Petrobras announces a reduction in the fuel transfer value

The Brazilian fuel scenario is slowly moving towards stabilization in the coming weeks and, this Friday, a new measure collaborates for this to happen, the reduction in the price of diesel passed on by Brazilian refineries to fuel distributors in the country. This is because the drop of R$ 0,20 in the average price per liter of the product, announced by Petrobras, is in effect today and could bring benefits to the national transport sector.

Thus, with the beginning of the new value, the average liter of diesel transferred from refineries to fuel distributors goes from R$ 5,61 to R$ 5,41. This is the first reduction in the price of fuel since May 2021, when the product began to trace a constant increase every month by Petrobras.

Thus, the state-owned company communicated in a note that “Considering the mandatory mixture of 90% diesel A and 10% biodiesel for the composition of diesel sold at service stations, Petrobras' share in the consumer price will rise from R$ 5,05, in average, to R$ 4,87 for each liter sold at the pump”.

Despite this, the final price of the fuel to the consumer will still not depend entirely on Petrobras' decision, since the value goes through a series of readjustments by the distributors themselves, but there may be a reduction in prices.

André Braz, economist at the Brazilian Institute of Economics at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (Ibre/FGV), also commented that the 3,56% reduction in the price of fuel, although well received, is small in relation to the increase accumulated in 12 months.

State have been pressured by the Bolsonaro Government to reduce the price of diesel in refineries and the suggestion was finally accepted

One of the main reasons that led Petrobras to reduce by R$ 0,20 the average price of a liter of diesel in Brazilian refineries this week is the constant pressure which is being made by the Bolsonaro Government at the state-owned company.

In the midst of the electoral race, President Jair Bolsonaro and his ministers are seeking to ensure the stabilization of the fuel market in the country.

Another major point that led to the decision, according to the president of the Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers (Abicom), Sérgio Araújo, was the momentary stabilization of oil prices on the international market, since the state-owned company is based on the international value of brent to carry out the valuation of the product and its derivatives in the Brazilian fuel market.

Finally, President Jair Bolsonaro celebrated the drop in fuel prices by stating that, despite the small reduction, it still weighs on consumers' pockets, who will now benefit from the future impact on final prices distributed at fuel stations throughout the country. country.
