ArcelorMittal Partners with Link School of Business to Develop a Technology Project Focused on Business in the Metaverse
The term Metaverse has been becoming increasingly popular in recent years and refers to a type of virtual world that attempts to replicate reality through digital devices, where companies and individuals can conduct commercial exchanges using technology at any moment.
Thus, various companies around the world have focused on developing projects for this virtual world, aiming to expand their presence in the current technological market.
-
Norwegian company 1X opened the first vertically integrated humanoid robot factory in the US in California, while China in Guangdong produces 10,000 units per year.
-
CATL manufactures more batteries for electric cars than all its competitors worldwide combined, and the company founded 14 years ago in a coastal city in China that no one knew delivered 661 GWh in 2025, commands 39.2% of the global market and supplies batteries to Tesla, BMW, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
-
BYD produces up to 4,400 cars per day and one vehicle every 20 seconds at its largest factory in Xi’an, surpasses Tesla in industrial pace, leaves Volkswagen far behind in pure electric vehicles, and consolidates China as the birthplace of the world’s largest electric car manufacturer.
-
While cities suffocate with smoke and fields burn worthless straw, India transforms sugarcane bagasse, non-recyclable plastic, and agricultural residue into bricks to build cheaper rural housing.
In this way, the steel company ArcelorMittal could not fall behind and announced its latest technology project aimed at business within the Metaverse. The company is one of the largest in Brazil and the world in steel production and is now seeking to reinforce its presence in the national market as a leader in technology and innovation.
To this end, the company has partnered with the Link School of Business, the first entrepreneurship school in Brazil, which will work with the steelmaker within the Metaverse in the coming months.
The project to be developed between the Brazilian entrepreneurship university and the steel company aims to bring the Metaverse technology into ArcelorMittal’s business and enable strong growth over the next few years.
Thus, the initial investment that the company will make will be R$ 1.2 million, focusing on acquiring the necessary equipment and training project collaborators. In this way, the commercialization chain of ArcelorMittal’s production will become increasingly technological and efficient.
The Business Project Team in the Metaverse Will Have Specific Training for the Technology and Will Focus on Expanding the Company’s Business
Although it is one of the largest in the world, the steel industry is still a bit behind compared to other sectors of the international market, and therefore, several companies seek to focus on technology as their main ally today.
Thus, executives Monica Evangelista, from the Link School of Business accelerator, Paula Harraca, Director of Strategy, Innovation, and Business Transformation of ArcelorMittal LATAM and Mining Brazil, and Sofia Trombetta, Director of People, Health, and Well-Being at ArcelorMittal, discussed the proposals for the company’s Metaverse project.
At the end of the search for the best alternatives for ArcelorMittal’s business project, a team consisting of six people was formed, including two professionals from the company and four students from Link.
This team of collaborators will have high training focused on the Metaverse and business in this virtual world in Brazil and the USA, in addition to mentorship and support from Link, ArcelorMittal, and Açolab, the open innovation lab of the steel producer.
The partnership between ArcelorMittal and the Link School of Business began in 2021, and now, the steel company focuses on bringing even more innovation and pioneering to its operations, aiming to expand its presence in the international market over the next few years with the new partnership.
