Aston Martin Just Announced The Convertible Version Of Its DB12 Volante, Which Features A 680-Horsepower V8 Engine And Reaches 325 Km/h With The Top Up.
The British car manufacturer Aston Martin has recently unveiled its new super convertible DB12 Volante. The limited edition car features a design that combines flowing lines with aerodynamic proportions and is powered by a 680 hp Biturbo V8 engine with an eight-speed transmission that can be shifted via paddles behind the steering wheel.
Aston Martin DB12 Volante Features A V8 Engine With 81.6 Kgfm Of Torque
The Aston Martin model also offers an electric K-fold roof that can be opened in 14 seconds and closed in 16 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The aluminum structure design allows for greater stiffness, maintaining a stable and controlled driving experience.
As for the color options for the Aston Martin DB12 Volante, the standard color is black, complemented by 8 layers of insulation. In addition to black, consumers can choose between red, black, blue, and silver.

While Brazil was left without an affordable 7-seater Honda, Indonesia sells the 2026 BR-V with a 1.5 i-VTEC engine of 121 hp, Honda Sensing, three rows, fuel consumption above 23 km/l, and a range of 987 km; the family SUV costs less than the Spin, Aircross, and Tiggo 8 Pro when converted without taxes.

Another Chinese giant prepares to enter Brazil: BAIC bets on the Arcfox T1, an electric hatchback that promises to compete with the BYD Dolphin, BYD Dolphin Mini, and Geely EX2 with a larger size and a range of up to 425 km.

Hyundai launches a 7-seater ‘Kombi’ cheaper than Chevrolet Spin, Citroën Aircross, and Tiggo 8 Pro in Brazil; for around R$ 78,500 in conversion without taxes, the Hyundai Stargazer Cartenz features a 1.5 engine, manual or IVT transmission, 205 mm ground clearance, and the SmartSense package that Brazilians don’t have yet, but Indonesia does.
In terms of mechanics, there are no new developments. The DB12 Volante does not offer the V12 option, just like the coupe, and exclusively features the 680 hp 4.0 Biturbo V8 from Mercedes-Benz, with 81.6 kgfm of torque between 2,750 rpm and 6,000 rpm. Compared to its predecessor, the DB11, this represents a 34% increase in power.
The transmission is also an 8-speed automatic that sends all the power to the rear wheels with the assistance of an electronic differential. The main difference between the coupe and the convertible from Aston Martin lies in their adaptive dampers, which have a specific setup for this version.
Similarly, the stiffness of the rear wheel springs is adjusted. Additionally, it is 109 kg heavier than the standard DB12, totaling around 1,973 kg.
Vehicle Can Reach Up To 325 Km/h
Moreover, the structure of the two models is basically the same. The DB12 Volante with the V8 engine also receives structural reinforcements in the body. The difference is that in the coupe, the increase in stiffness is 7%, while in the convertible, it is 5%.
The similarities can also be seen on the tracks. The convertible is only 0.1 seconds slower than the coupe in the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration, achieving a time of 3.7 seconds.
However, both reached the same maximum speed of 325 km/h, but the DB12 Volante only attains this speed with the top up. To decelerate this sports car, the Aston Martin vehicle comes factory-equipped with 400 mm cast iron discs in the front and 360 mm at the rear. However, carbon ceramic discs are offered as an option.
Charm Of The Aston Martin DB12 Volante
Like any convertible, the charm of the DB12 lies in its roof, which in this case is made of canvas; thus, Aston Martin provided various customization options. The roof takes 14 seconds to be retracted and 16 seconds to be closed again, which can be done at speeds up to 50 km/h. Another detail is that, according to Aston Martin, the roof has been acoustically enhanced, featuring 8 layers of insulation.
Inside, the cabin received the same refinement as the coupe, including the first Aston Martin multimedia system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and which has a response time of 30 ms.
All information is displayed on two 10.25-inch screens, and for those who appreciate tradition, the system and other functions can be controlled via physical buttons.
