Grupo Bahamas Announces Bahamas Mix Atacarejo in Bicas MG, Expanding Retail Growth and Generating Jobs in the Zona da Mata.

The Grupo Bahamas confirmed the construction of a Bahamas Mix unit in Bicas MG, in the Zona da Mata, expanding its presence in the atacarejo segment in Minas Gerais.

The announcement was made last week during a meeting between company executives and municipal authorities.

Thus, construction is expected to begin in the coming months, marking the group’s arrival in the municipality.

The project is part of the company’s retail expansion plan in the state.

The new store will be the fourth recent operation of the Bahamas Mix brand in Minas territory.

Therefore, the venture arises in response to the growing demand for hybrid sales models that cater to both end consumers and small merchants.

Furthermore, the initiative reinforces the network’s strategy of interior expansion.

Public-Private Integration Marks the Announcement of the Venture

The official announcement took place in an institutional meeting with representatives of local government.

In attendance were the CEO of the Grupo Bahamas, Jovino Campos, and the mayor Helber Marques Correia (PSB).

During the meeting, the economic and structural impacts of the investment were discussed.

Thus, the company highlighted that cooperation between the private initiative and municipal administration was crucial in enabling the project.

This institutional articulation, therefore, reinforces the group’s commitment to sustainable regional development.

The proposal goes beyond opening a store, also involving urban improvements.

Road Infrastructure Will Be Expanded Along with the Atacarejo

The new Bahamas Mix will be implemented near the works of the future access intersection to the municipality.

The road intervention is part of the urban planning that accompanies the installation of the atacarejo.

According to the retailer, the synergy between mobility and commerce should optimize logistical flow.

This tends to facilitate both the supply of the unit and the movement of consumers.

Additionally, the modernization of the road access is expected to elevate safety standards in the surrounding area.

The expectation is that the new commercial hub will reorganize traffic and stimulate new investments.

Job Creation and Income Come to the Forefront of Retail Expansion

Another central point of the project is the direct socioeconomic impact.

The arrival of Bahamas Mix in Bicas MG is expected to generate jobs even during the construction phase.

Subsequently, the store’s operation will increase formal job opportunities.

Operational, administrative, and logistical roles are expected to make up the initial staff.

Thus, the atacarejo will act as a vector for local income.

Small entrepreneurs and resellers are also likely to benefit from the new supply channel.

Grupo Bahamas Expands Presence in Other Regions of Minas

Alongside the project in Bicas, the Grupo Bahamas is maintaining works in other cities.

In São João del-Rei, for instance, a unit of Supermercados Bahamas is under construction.

The store will have 2,000 m² of sales area and 5,000 m² of built area.

The space will feature 14 check-outs and is being built on a 6,500 m² plot on Avenida 31 de Março, Colônia do Marçal neighborhood.

The opening is scheduled for June.

Meanwhile, in Uberlândia, the implementation of Empório Bahamas in Grand Boulevard Mall is progressing.

Thus, the premium unit will have 570 m² of sales area and eight check-outs, with an opening expected in the first half of 2026.

Bahamas Mix Also Invests R$ 20 Million in Tupaciguara

In the Triângulo Mineiro, another front of retail expansion involves Tupaciguara.

The municipality will receive its first Bahamas Mix atacarejo unit.

The projected investment is R$ 20 million.

The structure will be built on a total area of 9,300 m², with 4,500 m² constructed.

Thus, the projection is for over 100 direct jobs.

The model will follow the hybrid standard, serving local consumers and merchants.

The Strength of Grupo Bahamas in Food Retail

Currently, Grupo Bahamas has 87 stores in Minas Gerais, distributed across five brands.

There are 54 units in the Zona da Mata and 33 in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba.

In the Abras Ranking, the company ranks 24th nationally, with gross revenue of R$ 4.321 billion in 2024.

Among companies based in the state, it ranks sixth.

In the ranking of the Brazilian Association of Atacarejos, it is among the main players in the segment.

The group has the third-highest revenue in Minas in the atacarejo sector and the 15th position nationally.

Retail Expansion Consolidates Multiformat Strategy

The advancement of Bahamas Mix in Bicas MG symbolizes more than an opening.

It represents the consolidation of the multiformat model of the Grupo Bahamas.

Thus, by combining atacarejo, traditional supermarket, and premium brands, the network increases its reach. This enables it to serve different consumer profiles.

Therefore, the arrival in the municipality reinforces the company’s strategic positioning.

Thus, the trend is for continued expansion, keeping pace with regional economic growth.
