Bahia Partners With GoVerde Energia to Install Sustainable Factory, With Billion-Dollar Investment, Job Creation, and Focus on Clean Energy and Export.
Bahia has just taken another decisive step towards national leadership in the energy transition. In a strategic initiative to boost the green economy, the State Government, through the Department of Economic Development (SDE), signed a letter of intent with GoVerde Energia for the installation of a manufacturing park focused on the production of green methanol and ammonia, oxygen, and solar energy generation.
R$ 9 Billion in Investments and Over 24,000 Jobs Expected
The project foresees robust investments: R$ 5.4 billion will be allocated for the installation of the industrial complex in Candeias and another R$ 3.6 billion for the construction of solar plants in five Bahian municipalities.
In total, the initiative promises to generate over 24,000 indirect jobs and 210 direct jobs throughout the three phases of implementation.

“The decarbonization of supply chains is a growing demand, and Bahia is leading the way, under Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, in seeking sustainable forms and practices in Bahian industrial production. In the moment our planet is experiencing, Bahia positions itself as a protagonist in green economy actions. We continue to attract companies aligned with this purpose and in strategic geopolitical development,” said SDE Secretary Angelo Almeida.
Training and Focus on Local Labor
One of the project’s differentiators is the social commitment: GoVerde Energia ensured that it will prioritize local labor.
Residents of Candeias will be trained and prepared to fill positions in the industrial park and solar plants, ensuring inclusion and regional development.
Production of Green Methanol for Export and Energy for 5 Municipalities in Bahia
The first phase of the factory will have the capacity to produce 300,000 tons of green methanol and ammonia and 155,000 tons of oxygen per day.
With cutting-edge technology provided by the German industry, the main focus will be on export—especially to the maritime and aviation sectors, which seek cleaner alternatives to fossil fuels.
The solar park will be installed in Juazeiro, Bom Jesus da Lapa, Pindaí, Brumado, and Irecê, with an estimated capacity of up to 1.5 GW/year.
The generation of renewable energy enhances the energy autonomy of the region and strengthens Bahia’s commitment to sustainability.
According to the CEO of GoVerde Energia, Ricardo Junqueira, the choice of Bahia was strategic. “Green methanol is set to decarbonize an entire chain in the maritime and aviation sectors. Bahia has been a pioneer in this green fuel segment, and we believe that Bahia today is one of the states with the best conditions nationally to develop a project of this magnitude for export and related purposes,” he emphasized.
