IFMA laboratory technical course trains professionals for teaching and research
The Technical Course in Natural Sciences Laboratory prepares professionals to work in environments related to the fields of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The training combines theoretical content and practical activities associated with the operation of laboratories used in schools, scientific institutions, and research spaces.
Among the functions linked to the area are the organization of materials, preparation of reagents, support for practical classes and experiments, in addition to compliance with safety standards in the laboratory environment.
The professional routine also includes equipment control, workspace conservation, and guidance on proper waste disposal, according to responsibilities linked to laboratory work.
The offer by IFMA is part of the institution’s professional education actions and expands the technical training options for candidates with a complete High School education in the region served by the Barra do Corda Campus.
In school laboratories, the technician can assist teachers in preparing experimental activities and using materials necessary for practical classes, within the responsibilities provided for the training.
As it is a technical course at the high school level, the training does not replace a degree nor qualifies the professional for activities exclusive to regulated higher-level careers.
Even so, the course provides technical qualification aimed at practical functions in laboratory spaces supporting teaching and research, according to the training proposal offered by IFMA.
IFMA vacancies are distributed across four centers in Maranhão
The 100 vacancies were equally divided among four centers linked to the Barra do Corda Campus, with distribution provided in the notice for open competition, people with disabilities, and quota modalities.
Each on-site support unit has 25 opportunities, a number that considers the organization defined for the technical EaD selection and the service capacity informed by the institution.
The centers included are Barra do Corda, Jenipapo dos Vieira, Fernando Falcão, and São Raimundo do Doca Bezerra.
Located in the region covered by the campus responsible for the offer, the centers serve as a reference for mandatory on-site activities planned throughout the course.
During registration, the candidate must choose only one support center, a step that needs to be checked before finalizing the registration in the IFMA system.
Once participation in the selection is confirmed, the choice of center cannot be changed, according to the rules published for the selection process.
The quota division follows the same pattern in the four centers, with vacancies allocated to different competition modalities provided by the affirmative action policy.
In each center, there are opportunities for open competition, people with disabilities, and candidates classified in quotas related to public school, income, ethnic-racial belonging, and disability.
Who can enroll in the IFMA technical EaD course
The selection is open to candidates who have completed High School by the time required for enrollment, a mandatory condition for participation in the subsequent technical course.
Since the offer is subsequent, students who have not yet completed this stage of basic education are not part of the target audience for the course.
There is no registration fee, and the notice does not establish an exam as a classification stage, as the selection occurs by lottery among the approved candidates.
People who attended high school in private schools can compete through open competition or, when applicable, through the reserved spots for people with disabilities.
Candidates enrolled in quotas must observe the required documentation for each category, as enrollment depends on the verification of the information declared at the time of registration.
Those competing for spots reserved for black or brown people need to submit a recent photograph, according to the criteria described in the notice, for the purpose of hetero-identification procedure.
The free registration and selection by lottery are part of the rules of the selection process published by IFMA for entry in the second academic semester of 2026.
However, the confirmation of the spot depends on the approval of the registration, the classification in the lottery when there is competition, and the presentation of the required documents at enrollment.
Public electronic lottery defines the classification of candidates
The public electronic lottery will be held on June 8, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at the IFMA Rectorate in São Luís.
The live broadcast on YouTube was provided for in the notice as a way of public monitoring of the classification stage of approved candidates.
According to the selection rules, all approved registrants receive a score randomly generated by the system during the electronic procedure.
Based on this score, the order of classification is defined without the possibility of appeal against the lottery result, according to the express rule of the notice.
The filling of vacancies occurs first through open competition and then through quota categories, following the distribution established for each center.
When the number of approved registrants in a certain center is less than the number of available spots, the notice provides for direct enrollment without a lottery for that center.
Before the final result, the schedule provided for the disclosure of the preliminary list of registrants on May 29, 2026, a stage prior to the definitive approval of participations.
The period for appeals against registrations was set from May 30 to June 1, and the final approval of registrations is scheduled for June 3, 2026.
Enrollment in the technical course requires attention to the deadlines in the notice
The disclosure of the final result is scheduled for June 10, 2026, the date on which candidates will be able to check the classification in the selection process.
Those classified in the first call must enroll between June 11 and 22, following the guidelines and procedures disclosed by IFMA.
At this stage, the institution may require personal documents, proof of high school completion, and, in the case of quota students, specific proofs for the chosen modality.
Failure to present the required documentation or to meet deadlines may prevent the enrollment from being finalized, according to the rules applicable to the selection process.
Since it is offered in distance learning (EaD), the course requires that the student be able to follow remote activities and observe the academic guidelines provided by the institution.
In addition to online activities, the student must attend convocations for assessments and face-to-face meetings at the centers chosen during registration.
The announcement also indicates the institutional email of Campus Barra do Corda for questions related to enrollment, according to the information released by the institution.
Lists, results, corrections, and other official communications should be followed through IFMA’s channels and the selection page, where updates on the process are published.
