With the new concept, BMW aims at young people who have never owned a motorcycle, as the vehicle can be used by people without a license.

The multinational manufacturer of luxury cars and motorcycles, BMW Motorrad, unveils its latest prototype. The futuristic Concept CE 02 is a hybrid motorcycle aimed at young people without a driving license looking for the next step in urban mobility.

The automaker's motorcycle division tried to come up with something new like the Concept CE 02, so you'd be forgiven for not knowing whether it's a motorcycle or a scooter. The multinational BMW has tried to take the essential features of both genres and turn them into a new, fast way to get around the city without emissions.

With a view to helping you get to your destination quickly, BMW has designed a belt-driven electric motor that can generate 11 kW of power (or about 15 horsepower), according to a press release.

Thanks to the small motor, you can accelerate and quickly reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h. BMW has not revealed the details about the size of the battery, but it is strong enough to provide 90 kilometers of range. That should be more than enough to get you through the day in most cities.

Electric motorcycle has support to hold skateboards

The Concept CE 02's hybrid setup isn't the only aspect destined to appeal to younger drivers. The vehicle was specifically designed with them in mind. It even has a stand designed to hold skateboards.

With the new concept, BMW targets 16-year-olds who have never owned a motorcycle, as the vehicle can be used by people without a license in some locations.

The bike also sports a minimalistic cyberpunk design, similar to the Definition Concept CE 04 scooter. There are two large disc wheels, a front fork, handlebars and an engine – that's it. Because of this, the vehicle tips the scales at an ultralight 119 kgs.

Traditionally, a bike like the Concept CE 02 seems unlikely to hit the road, but we're not so sure anymore. After all, just two months ago, BMW revealed a production version of Destination CE 04. Therefore, if you are looking for a compromise between a motorcycle and a scooter, patience can be your best ally.
