Autonomous 100% Electric Spraying Drone Promises to Reduce Costs and Increase Efficiency in Brazilian Agribusiness.

The Brazilian agribusiness has stood out globally for its robustness and constant innovation, but now, a new technological ally promises to accelerate this process even further.

In a move that has the potential to revolutionize agricultural spraying in the country, a partnership between major companies will introduce a super drone sprayer to the market.

The goal is nothing less than to reduce farmers’ operational costs by offering a high-performance solution that could place Brazil at the forefront of agricultural aviation.

Launched by the American startup Pyka, the Pelican Spray is an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) that stands out as the largest aircraft authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for commercial activities.

With an innovative spraying capacity, the drone has been designed to perform agricultural applications with impressive accuracy, minimizing waste and environmental impacts.

The aircraft is equipped to carry up to 300 liters of payload and operates with five interchangeable batteries, ensuring continuous operation capable of covering up to 90 hectares per hour.

But what really stands out is its ability to operate at night, doubling the spraying window and increasing efficiency when addressing nighttime pests.

This novelty in the Brazilian market was made possible thanks to the strategic partnership between Synerjet Corp., a distributor of aircraft in Brazil, and Pyka itself.

According to the Compre Rural portal, José Eduardo Brandão, CEO of Synerjet, says that “the partnership with Pyka could not have come at a better time.”

“Now we can offer our clients an innovative aircraft designed to be the most advanced in agricultural spraying.”

For Brandão, this collaboration not only marks the beginning of a new era in agricultural aviation but also positions Brazil prominently in the adoption of new technologies in the field.

Why Is Brazil the Ideal Market for the Pelican Spray?

Brazil stands out as a global leader in the production of various agricultural products such as soybeans, coffee, orange juice, cotton, and sugar.

The country has already surpassed the United States, becoming the largest cotton exporter in the world.

This global relevance makes the Brazilian market a fertile ground for innovations in the agro-industrial sector.

According to Mateus Dallacqua, Sales and Innovation Director at Synerjet, “we expect to sell at least 20 units in the first year and significantly increase this number, with the forecast that the market could absorb up to 100 aircraft per year.”

With forecasts for grain production growth in Brazil expected to reach 322 million tons in 2025, an increase of 10.2% compared to 2024, the demand for more efficient and sustainable solutions for agribusiness is only expected to grow.

In this scenario, the implementation of new technologies like the Pelican Spray becomes crucial for the sector’s advancement.

How Technology Contributes to Sustainability in the Field

According to the cited site, another point that deserves emphasis is the alignment of the Pelican Spray with global sustainability goals for the agricultural sector.

The aircraft not only improves the precision of agricultural applications but also contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions.

As Brandão points out, “the Pelican improves the efficiency of agricultural applications while promoting sustainable practices.”

The reduction of drift and the use of technologies that minimize environmental impacts are features that make the aircraft a true advancement for precision agriculture.

Additionally, by operating at night, the Pelican Spray is able to address pests at the exact moment, without wasting resources.

This not only increases productivity but also decreases the amount of chemicals needed, directly impacting the reduction of pesticide use.

The Impact on Brazilian Agribusiness and the Future of Agricultural Spraying

Major players in Brazilian agribusiness, such as SLC Agrícola, one of Brazil’s largest agricultural producers, have already committed to integrating the Pelican Spray into their operations.

The promise is for significant efficiency gains, which can translate into greater profitability for rural producers.

According to Michael Norcia, CEO of Pyka, “we are excited to strengthen our presence in the Brazilian agricultural market through the partnership with Synerjet.

Their expertise will help us expand the impact of our aircraft in one of the most dynamic and important agricultural markets in the world.”

The Future of the Pelican Spray and the Global Market

The arrival of the first units of the Pelican Spray is expected in 2026, but production is already underway and expectations for the Brazilian market are quite positive.

Pyka plans accelerated growth in Brazil, aiming to reach the mark of 100 aircraft produced annually, an ambitious goal but one that aligns with the potential of the country’s agricultural market.

With this, the super drone Pelican Spray positions itself as an essential technology for the future of precision agriculture and sustainability in Brazil.

Will spraying drones become the definitive solution for Brazilian agribusiness? Only time will tell.
