BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world, announced on Friday (6) that it will invest R$ 171 million in its operations in Rio Grande do Sul during Governor Eduardo Leite’s visit to the company’s office in SP. In addition, the company’s producers are also expected to invest R$ 181 million in their facilities to expand production capacity and modernize the technologies of the installations, creating various jobs and income for RS.

According to Lorival Luz, CEO of BRF, the capital will be directed toward modernizing and expanding BRF’s production factories in Marau, Lajeado, and Serafina Corrêa, as well as a new animal feed factory in Gaurama. The animal feed factory in Arroio do Meio (RS) will also be updated. The investment, which promises to create various jobs, will be made by the middle of next year, with R$ 44 million of it already applied. Lorival states that these investments and the recent purchase of the Hercosul Group represent progress in the Vision 2030 plan, the expansion strategy of BRF, announced at the end of last year.
The company views RS with great care as the state has a unique feature of good dialogue with the government, which gives the company security to make investments. In addition to being a very important market for BRF, the quality level of the workforce is excellent, the CEO added.
BRF Modernizes Its Factories in Other States
Last month, BRF announced it will invest R$ 18.8 million to update the structures of its margarine factory in Paranaguá, PR.
The investment is part of a total of R$ 292 million announced by Lorival in May for the modernization and expansion of the company’s factories in Paraná by next year. Lorival affirmed that BRF has a significant presence in the municipality, with one of the largest margarine units in Latin America, and also stated that the company has a long history in the state as it has created 18,000 direct jobs there.
