The amount is withdrawn from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) balance and aims to provide immediate financial relief to families who had homes or assets damaged by floods, landslides, and other severe weather events.
Currently, the benefit is available for workers in the Gaúcho cities of Boa Vista do Incra and Barra Funda. New municipalities may be added as emergency decrees are officially recognized.

The emergency withdrawal can only be requested once for each recognized weather event.
How to Request the Benefit
The request can be made in person at a Caixa agency or through the official FGTS app, which speeds up the process and avoids unnecessary travel. During in-person service, the worker must present all required documentation.
In the app, the user needs to:
- Access the “My Withdrawals” option;
- Select the “Public Calamity” category;
- Confirm personal information;
- Attach the requested documents;
- Choose the payment method, which can be a transfer to a bank account.
Deadline for Request
The extra withdrawal must be requested within the stipulated period after the declaration of calamity or emergency. Generally, the limit is up to 90 days after the publication of the decree. Therefore, it is essential that the worker follows the announcements from the municipality and Caixa to not lose the right.
Importance of the Withdrawal for Affected Families
The amount of R$ 6,220 can represent a lifeline for covering urgent repairs, purchasing furniture, appliances, and other essential expenses. Although it does not replace other forms of aid, it helps reduce the immediate financial impact caused by natural disasters.
