Polish Multinational CANPACK Invests R$ 710 Million in New Factory in South of Minas, with Promise of Job Creation and Strengthening of Regional Industry.
The multinational CANPACK, a global leader in aluminum can manufacturing, started on Wednesday (7) the construction of its new factory in Poços de Caldas, in the South of Minas Gerais. With an investment of R$ 710 million, the project is one of the largest private investments in the municipality’s history.
The industrial plant will occupy 165,000 m² and will have the capacity to produce 1.3 billion cans per year, exclusively for the Brazilian market. The expectation is that the factory will generate 140 direct jobs and about 300 indirect jobs, boosting the local economy and the regional logistics sector.
Construction has already begun and will be executed in phases over the next two years, with completion expected by 2026.

Why Poços de Caldas Was Chosen by CANPACK?
According to Paulo Roberto Dias, CEO of CANPACK in Brazil, the decision to install the new unit in the municipality was strategic:
“We chose Poços de Caldas for its logistical potential, structure, the quality of the workforce, and for the steadfast support from the municipal administration since the first conversations. This project is strategic for CANPACK in Brazil and will allow us to serve the national market more efficiently.”
The privileged logistics, combined with support from the City Hall and the Department of Economic Development, was crucial for the realization of the project, whose negotiations began in 2022. The letter of intent was formalized in November 2024.
Construction of the New Factory Stimulates Local Economy
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Paulo Ney highlighted the project’s impact:
“Today is a historic day for Poços de Caldas. The arrival of CANPACK is the result of a joint effort between the City Hall, the Department of Economic Development, and our institutional partners. We are talking about job creation, valuing local industry, and consolidating Poços as an attractive hub for large investments.”
In addition to job creation, the construction will boost the production chain, attract suppliers, increase revenue, and elevate Poços de Caldas to a new industrial level.
According to Franco Martins, the municipal secretary of Economic Development and Innovation:
“From the beginning of the negotiations, we offered all the necessary support to show that Poços is a fertile environment for new businesses. The arrival of the company is a collective achievement and shows that the municipality is ready to receive large projects with responsibility and planning.”
