Toyota’s Sport Hatch Combines 1.6 Turbo Engine with 304 HP, Manual Transmission, and All-Wheel Drive, Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 Seconds, with an Extensive Safety and Comfort Package, Maintaining Usability for Daily Urban and Highway Driving.

The Toyota GR Corolla is the most radical version ever officially sold in Brazil. It comes equipped with a 1.6 turbo engine with 304 horsepower, six-speed manual transmission, and adjustable all-wheel drive.

Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, the sport hatch combines extreme performance with an extensive list of safety and comfort features.

In the domestic market, the model arrived in 2023 imported from Japan. It was initially launched in two versions, Core and Circuit.

Currently, Toyota offers only the Circuit configuration in the Brazilian catalog, priced at around R$ 460,000, depending on the location and dealership policies.

Exclusive Design and Construction

The GR Corolla in Brazil does not share its body with the traditional sedan sold in the country.

It is a five-door hatch with flared fenders, functional air vents in the hood, rear diffuser, and three exhaust outlets that enhance the engine’s roar.

At the front, full-LED headlights in a hook shape, expanded grille, and exclusive bumper optimize the cooling of the engine.

The 18-inch forged wheels from BBS reduce weight and increase brake efficiency.

The Toyota GR Corolla Circuit also features a carbon fiber roof, which lowers the center of gravity and improves dynamics.

World’s Most Powerful Three-Cylinder Engine

The GR Corolla uses the G16E-GTS engine, a three-cylinder 1.6 turbo that delivers 304 HP at 6,500 rpm and 37.7 kgfm at 3,000 rpm.

According to Toyota, this is the most powerful mass-produced three-cylinder engine in the world.

The six-speed manual transmission features short throws and a rev-matching downshift function.

The GR-Four all-wheel drive system offers three torque distribution modes: 60:40 for daily use, 30:70 for a more rear-oriented behavior, and 50:50 for maximum stability in demanding conditions.

Interior and Onboard Comfort

The interior reinforces the sporty proposal. The front seats are upholstered in suede, with red stitching and excellent lateral support.

The 12.3-inch digital instrument panel displays data such as turbo pressure, G-force, and traction system information.

Convenience features include head-up display, wireless phone charging, smart key, push-button start, and dual-zone digital climate control.

The 7-inch multimedia system offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but its interface and speed fall short of the expected standard for a car in this category.

The 2.64 m wheelbase is 6 cm shorter than the sedan’s, which reduces rear seat space.

The trunk, limited by the full-sized spare tire, offers 386 liters compared to the 470 liters of the Corolla Sedan.

Safety and Driving Assistances

The model comes with seven airbags (front, side, curtain, and driver’s knee), tire pressure monitoring, door impact bars, and stability and traction controls.

The Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 3.0) package includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. The car also has blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Performance and Consumption

With all-wheel drive, manual transmission, and recalibrated suspension (McPherson in front and double wishbone in the rear), the GR Corolla exhibits agile and controllable behavior.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.9 seconds, according to the manufacturer. Stability is ensured by the wider track and the carbon roof of the Circuit version.

Despite its performance, it is possible to achieve moderate consumption, with averages of up to 12 km/l on the highway and about 9 km/l in the city.

Versions and Availability

The Brazilian launch included the Core and Circuit versions, both with an initial limited batch of 99 units from the Launch Edition, numbered in the console.

Currently, Toyota focuses sales on the Circuit version, which includes limited-slip differentials (LSD) on both axles and a carbon fiber roof.

In other countries, the model already offers an automatic transmission, but there is no official confirmation of its arrival in the Brazilian market.

A Sports Car for Everyday Use?

The Toyota GR Corolla Circuit combines over 300 HP, manual transmission, all-wheel drive, and the reliability of authorized dealer maintenance. The question is: would you drive a 304 HP manual car daily on Brazilian streets?
