According to Marina, 2021 was a year of overcoming challenges and evolution for GM. The ongoing pandemic and the shortage of components for combustion cars were some of the main obstacles. However, the company faced these challenges and moved forward.
According to the director, regarding the creation of technologies for the country, any decisive process for bringing investment, innovation, or product creation is done collegially. GM’s Global Goal Aims To Bring More Electric Cars To The National Market
Regarding the arrival of electric cars, Marina states that she wouldn’t risk making predictions; however, for General Motors, the goals are: zero accidents, traffic jams, and emissions. This is a global plan that has been implemented since 2017 and of which Brazil is a part.
“In five years, there will be electric cars with great prices, comparable to combustion cars. The choice will be based on the type of product, not on price. The technology already exists; however, mass production requires a larger investment,” highlights the director.

With the new phase of the emissions reduction program PL7, which came into effect this year, an average improvement of 43% in energy efficiency has been achieved. Regardless, all automakers in the sector will shift to electric cars.
