Advancing More and More in the Transition to Electric Cars, the Government of ES Acquired 10 Electric Cars in a Research Project for Use by the Military Police and Military House.
On this Monday (24), the Governor of Espírito Santo (ES), Renato Casagrande (PSB), delivered 10 electric cars that were acquired by the government through the research project “Electric Mobility in the State of Espírito Santo (ES)”. The aim of the research is to conduct studies on the sector, enabling the development of public policies. Fully electric cars will be used in the project’s initial phase, with nine of these vehicles being the responsibility of the Military Police, which will use them to comprise the School Patrol fleet, while the remaining vehicle will remain with the Military House for use in the Government’s entourage.

Government of ES Talks About the Testing of Electric Cars and the Importance for the Environment
According to Casagrande, the government acquired the 10 electric cars and will now use them for 30 months. Despite being more expensive vehicles, they have lower maintenance costs and are more sustainable.
At the end of these 30 months, the research in ES will present data on the efficiency of the work and cost-benefit of the cars. The state was the first to deploy electric cars in the Military Police, and according to Casagrande, the school patrol was chosen because they are vehicles that travel long distances daily and can provide the government with accurate data.

According to Tyago Hoffmann, Secretary of Innovation and Development, in addition to reducing emissions, having a commitment to the environment, and improving the quality of life of the population, the project also demonstrates the innovative and competitive capacity of ES, projecting the perception of the country in a strong bet on the sustainability of electric cars.
ES Becomes the First Brazilian State to Grant the Use of Electric Cars to the Military Police
According to the Commander-General of the Military Police, Colonel Douglas Caus, the vehicles acquired by the government that will be used in the school patrol will aim to travel around public schools, providing security to teachers and students while combating drug trafficking.
According to Major Irio Doria Júnior, Director of Fleet Management of the Military Police, the School Patrol service is cautious, and there are not many occurrences to be addressed, so the vehicle will spend less time at the precinct.
All maintenance of the electric cars will be conducted by the dealership at the electric vehicle maintenance center. Additionally, the Military Police will have an eight-year warranty on the battery.
Government of ES Project and Electric Cars in Brazil
The research project has four subprojects that partly provide the basic infrastructure to acquire data and, in other parts, collect and process data, generating indicators for decision-making for both the government and other participants in society.
The project has a global value of over R$ 4 million, which will be applied over the 30 months, with R$ 1.5 million invested by EDP Smart in the maintenance and installation of 10 charging stations in the state, and other R$ 2.5 million will be invested in the adaptation and acquisition of the vehicles.
