LeasePlan Explains Some Ways That Combustion Vehicles Can Reduce Harmful Emissions to the Atmosphere and Increase Vehicle Lifespan
Everyone knows that combustion vehicles are on the list of the main emitters of greenhouse gas pollutants like CO2 that harm the environment. However, there are measures we can take to mitigate the harmful impact on nature, and LeasePlan’s experts have indicated some that can be considered immediately and others that can be added to a list of goals, such as investing in electric / hybrid cars. In fact, this type of market has been gaining significant attention, especially in Europe. It is expected that the number of electric cars on the continent will triple in the next three years. The charging infrastructure has also been improving in European countries, alongside policies aimed at reducing CO2 emissions.
To give an idea, LeasePlan conducted a study with data from 13 European countries and nearly 1,000 different car scenarios – with varying deadlines and mileages.
This allowed for a comparison between electric cars and combustion vehicles, understanding in what ways one is more beneficial than the other. The comparison revealed, among other things, that the total cost of ownership – known as T.C.O. – of an electric vehicle is already equal to (or even lower) in many countries; this alone is sufficient incentive for switching, not just for the end user, but especially for those looking to outsource their fleet.

Now, for those who cannot yet invest in electric/hybrid options, it is possible to adopt practices that help the environment and also increase the safety and lifespan of the vehicle. They are:
- Keep tires always inflated and aligned. This requires less effort from the engine and, consequently, lower gas emissions;
- Opt for vehicles powered by CNG, as they are less polluting than alcohol and/or gasoline options;
- Regularly change oil, fuel filters, and air filters, and do not forget maintenance on engines.
