CEFET/RJ offers 350 free spots in technical courses for Building Construction, Electrotechnics, Mechanics, and Occupational Safety for evening study.

CEFET/RJ has open registrations for free technical courses in Rio de Janeiro. There are 350 spots for those who have completed high school.

Registrations for the subsequent technical courses at CEFET/RJ are open until May 25 for candidates who have already finished high school and wish to enroll in the second academic semester of 2026. In total, the federal institution offers 350 free spots in units in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, with classes in the evening and selection conducted through an objective test scheduled for June 14.

The opportunities are distributed between the Maracanã and Maria da Graça campuses. The process includes open competition spots and also reserved spots for quota modalities as provided by Law No. 12.711/2012. Registration is done online and has a fee of R$ 45.

Free technical courses at CEFET/RJ cover different areas

The courses offered cover sectors related to industry, management, and infrastructure. The programs are organized for students who have already completed basic education and are seeking technical professional qualification.

At the Maracanã unit, 280 spots were opened. Meanwhile, the Maria da Graça campus will have another 70 opportunities.

Among the available courses are:

  • Administration;
  • Construction;
  • Electronics;
  • Electrical Engineering;
  • Mechanics;
  • Occupational Safety;
  • Renewable Energy Systems;
  • Telecommunications.

All classes will be held at night.

How will the selection for the free technical courses be?

The selection process will occur in a single stage. Candidates will be classified based on their performance in an objective test scheduled for June 14, 2026.

According to the announcement, anyone with a high school completion certificate can participate in the selection.

The distribution of spots considers two main groups:

  • open competition;
  • quota system.

The reserved spots follow the rules established by federal legislation aimed at students who completed high school entirely in public schools.

Maracanã Unit Concentrates the Largest Number of Vacancies

The majority of opportunities are concentrated at the Maracanã campus in Rio de Janeiro. Each course at this unit will have 40 vacancies, equally divided between open competition and quotas.

The division was organized as follows:

  • Administration: 40 vacancies;
  • Construction: 40 vacancies;
  • Electronics: 40 vacancies;
  • Electrical Engineering: 40 vacancies;
  • Mechanics: 40 vacancies;
  • Occupational Safety: 40 vacancies;
  • Telecommunications: 40 vacancies.

In total, the offers amount to 280 vacancies at the location.

Meanwhile, the Maria da Graça unit will offer:

  • 40 vacancies in Occupational Safety;
  • 30 vacancies in Renewable Energies.

CEFET/RJ Calendar Brings Dates Until July

The schedule released by the institution includes all stages of the selection process, from the confirmation of registrations to the calls for enrollment.

After the registration closes on May 25, candidates will still have until May 26 to pay the required fee.

Among the main scheduled dates are:

  • Preliminary announcement of confirmed registrations: May 29;
  • Announcement of exam locations: June 12;
  • Application of the objective test: June 14;
  • Publication of the preliminary answer key: June 15;
  • Final test result: June 26;
  • Announcement of the general classification: July 7.

Stages are also planned for heteroidentification panels and the submission of documentation for indigenous and quilombola candidates.

Free Technical Courses Include Quota System

Part of the vacancies offered by CEFET/RJ will be filled through the quota modalities provided by federal law.

The notice states that candidates interested in this reservation of vacancies need to prove that they completed all of high school in public institutions.

Additionally, there will be specific procedures to verify the conditions declared by participants registered in reserved categories.

The heteroidentification panels will take place between June 26 and 29. The results of this stage are expected to be announced on June 30.

Results and calls for enrollment already have a forecast

The institution also published the schedule for enrollment calls for those approved. After the announcement of the final classification, the submission of documentation for the first call will occur between July 8 and 11.

Subsequently, the schedule provides for new calls in case of remaining vacancies. Check the expected sequence:

  1. First call: submission of documents between July 8 and 11;
  2. Second call: submission between July 16 and 19;
  3. Third call: submission between July 22 and 25.

The enrollment approvals will be announced after each stage.

The history of CEFET/RJ began over a century ago

The institution responsible for the selection originated in 1917, when it still operated as the Wenceslau Braz Normal School of Arts and Crafts.

Currently, the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow da Fonseca is engaged in technical, scientific, and technological education at different levels of teaching.

In addition to subsequent courses, CEFET/RJ maintains programs:

  • technician integrated with high school;
  • undergraduate degrees;
  • technological courses;
  • postgraduate;
  • master’s;
  • doctorate.

Activities are conducted both in-person and in a semi-presential format.

Expansion strengthened CEFET/RJ’s presence in the state

With the expansion of the federal network of technological education, the institution began to operate in different regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to the headquarters in Maracanã and the Maria da Graça unit, CEFET/RJ has campuses in:

  • Nova Iguaçu;
  • Petrópolis;
  • Nova Friburgo;
  • Itaguaí;
  • Valença;
  • Angra dos Reis.

According to institutional information, the goal is to contribute to professional training aimed at the economic and social development of the regions served.

The opening of new slots for free technical courses reinforces this action and expands student access to public professional education in the state.
