The Chevrolet Chevette in Brazil experienced its first major overhaul in 1978, with a restructuring focused on the front and new features on the rear, including chrome-trimmed taillights. In 1979, the four-door version and the curious Jeans version appeared. With the advent of the 80s, the Chevette introduced a 1.4 ethanol engine and expanded its lineup with the Marajó station wagon and the Chevette Hatch.

Each version brought its peculiarities, from the Marajó with its versatile cargo capacity to the Hatch that, despite being smaller, offered more interior space due to smart optimization. The success was so great that, in 1980, the Chevette peaked in sales in Brazil, with nearly 95,000 units sold.

The Chevrolet Chevette was equipped with various engine options throughout its production. Initially, it came with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, which was later complemented by an ethanol version. This 1.4 engine produced around 69 horsepower and 10.1 kgfm of torque at 3600 RPM. Over time, the Chevette evolved to include a more robust 1.6-liter engine, which offered better performance, with about 80 horsepower and 11.6 kgfm of torque.
