Chevrolet once again confirmed the end of the Celta model, highlighting that there are no plans for its return to the market. The brand emphasized that, at the moment, the relaunch of the Celta is not in future plans, ending any expectations of its return for fans of the model.
The Chevrolet Celta is one of the most iconic cars ever manufactured by the General Motors (GM) subsidiary. Loved by all those who had or still have the hatch, the CELTA has exceeded expectations since its launch in the 2000s. Without a doubt, the popular CELTA had a great positive impact for Chevrolet, especially here in Brazil. With the end of the Celta almost 10 years ago, those who still wanted to buy the popular Chevrolet car had to resort to pre-owned or used vehicles.
However, recently, social networks have spread a flood of fake news about an alleged return of the Chevrolet Celta to Brazil, due to the Federal Government's popular car program. The dissemination of this fake news generated frustrated expectations among those who still dreamed of buying a CELTA 0 km, as the car was no longer manufactured and officially sold in 2015. And due to false news spread on the internet, Chevrolet went public to inform that there are no plans to relaunch the CELTA.
Fake news about the return of the Chevrolet CELTA rekindled the hope of many who still wanted to purchase the car
The false news that spread across the internet mentioned that the new Chevrolet Celta would be based on the model Chinese Chevrolet Aveo, which is currently sold in Mexico. Full of flaws and with a poorly formulated context, some people began to suspect that the news could be fake.

The crucial moment that determined the news as fake it was the mention of an engine in the “new Celta” that was never used in the popular one, reinforcing that the information was false.
Chevrolet do Brasil confirmed the end of the Celta and reinforced that it has no intention of returning to manufacturing the existing model, nor of creating a new version of the Chevrolet Celta, neither now nor in the future. With the end of the Chevrolet Celta, the brand replaced the model Onix, clarified that no other cars below his specifications will be produced.
End of the Chevrolet Celta: Onix replaced the beloved CELTA forever
The brand also said that the end of the Celta was due to the low profitability of the popular car, in addition to the fact that a car as cheap and economical as the CELTA could interfere with Onix sales. Therefore, it was better to replace CELTA with, now, popular Onix, responsible for dominating the market for compact and modern cars.
New regulations required improvements in safety and efficiency, making it unfeasible to update the Celta without significantly increasing its costs. The need for airbags and ABS brakes, for example, made the model more expensive to produce under the new laws.
The Onix is much loved by Brazilians and is a car that leaves nothing to be desired. Beautiful, economical and cheap, it can be said that it is a good replacement for the late CELTA. However, while the Onix model is a good choice for Brazilians, in other Latin American countries the car is considered expensive, and is only sold in more advanced versions, such as the version with turbo engine. Therefore, the Chinese Aveo model becomes the most accessible version in other Latin American countries.
