Chevrolet Tornado Van 2026 costs around R$ 87,000 in Mexico, carries 650 kg, has 3.3 m³ of cargo space, and a 1.5 engine.

Chevrolet sells a compact van in Mexico that Brazil does not have in dealerships: the Tornado Van 2026. The model is presented as an urban work utility vehicle, with a compact body, 1.5 gasoline engine, 6-speed manual transmission, and a proposal aimed at small businesses. The official price starts at $299,900 Mexican pesos. Based on the exchange rate consulted, of 1 Mexican peso = R$ 0.289948, the direct conversion is approximately R$ 86,955, without Brazilian taxes, freight, importation, homologation, or national margin.

This fact draws attention because the Tornado Van costs, in direct conversion, close to the range of entry-level compact cars sold in Brazil, but offers a different proposal: 650 kg of load capacity and 3.3 m³ of useful volume.

The Tornado Van 2026 was created for light commercial use, especially deliveries, small businesses, urban services, and fleet operations. Chevrolet Mexico itself presents the model as a van made to adapt to different types of business.

The compact body is an important point. Instead of competing with medium or large vans, the Tornado Van occupies a space closer to urban vans, focusing on lower cost, controlled consumption, and ease of circulation in narrow streets.

In Brazil, Chevrolet does not offer an equivalent compact utility vehicle. The brand has pickups, SUVs, and larger commercial vehicles, but does not officially sell a small van with this format and converted price.

1.5 engine with 103 hp, 6-speed manual transmission, and up to 650 kg of load form the technical package

The official sheet from Chevrolet Mexico reports a 1.5L gasoline engine, four cylinders, with 103 hp of power and 108 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a 6-speed manual, a simple set aimed at professional use.

The declared load capacity is 650 kg, while the rear compartment offers 3.3 m³ of usable volume. This places the Tornado Van in an interesting range for delivery drivers, workshops, small businesses, and companies that need to transport volume without moving to a large van.

The official catalog also reports a 45-liter tank, McPherson front suspension, 14-inch aluminum wheels, and front disc brakes with ABS and EBD.

Chevrolet Tornado Consumption

The main page and the official catalog of Chevrolet Mexico report 18.1 km/l of combined yield, under controlled laboratory conditions.

On the other hand, the online specifications page of Chevrolet Mexico itself shows 16.3 km/l as a combined yield. In summary, the official consumption can vary between 16.3 km/l and 18.1 km/l, depending on the driving mode.

Simple interior, Bluetooth, air conditioning, and mandatory safety for daily work

The Tornado Van does not try to be a luxury van. The proposal is functional, with air conditioning, AM/FM radio with Bluetooth for audio and phone, two horns, monochromatic panel with digital clock, fabric seats, and electric door locks.

In terms of safety, Chevrolet Mexico reports 2 airbags, three-point seat belts with pretensioners, front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, ABS, EBD, and StabiliTrak stability control.

The warranty declared on the official page is 3 years or 60,000 km, which reinforces the positioning of a light commercial vehicle for urban and business use.

Tornado Van exposes a gap in the Brazilian compact utility market

Brazil once had more options for compact cargo vehicles, but this segment has shrunk significantly. Today, those who need a small utility often end up switching to compact pickups, larger vans, or used vehicles.

The Tornado Van offers a different solution: a low-cost van, urban-sized, with a 650 kg load capacity and a converted price close to that of popular cars. It is not a family vehicle, not an SUV, and does not try to appear premium.

While the Brazilian market discusses hatches above R$ 70,000 and increasingly expensive SUVs, Mexico has a compact Chevrolet work vehicle that turns a 1.5 engine, 3.3 m³ of cargo, and 650 kg capacity into a business tool on wheels.
