Chevrolet Spark EUV Starts Assembly in Brazil and Inaugurates Electric Operation at the Former Troller Factory While Competing in the Electrified Compact Segment.
The Chevrolet Spark EUV, a 100% electric compact SUV from the brand, will start being assembled in Brazil on December 3, in partnership with Comexport, at the former Troller factory in Horizonte, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza (CE).
The model maintains a range of 258 km, a front electric motor with 101 hp, and a 42 kWh battery.
It consolidates its presence in the market as the best-selling electric vehicle from Chevrolet in the country.

The Spark also faces the arrival of new rivals, such as the Geely EX2.
Assembly in Ceará and Industrial Partnership with Comexport
The assembly of the Spark EUV will take place at the Ceará Automotive Plant (PACE), located in the complex that once belonged to Troller and is now managed by Comexport.
The venture was structured as a multibrand factory, with an initial investment of R$ 400 million and a focus on electrified vehicles.
In the case of the Spark, the operation begins in SKD (Semi Knocked-Down) mode.

In this configuration, the vehicle arrives in Brazil partially assembled in kits sent from China and only goes through the final assembly stage in Horizonte.
This format reduces the tax burden compared to traditional imports.
General Motors is the first automaker to utilize the PACE structure for series production.
The initial goal is to assemble around 400 units per month, which is close to 100 cars per week.
There is a possibility to increase this volume as demand rises.
Although GM does not have its own booth at the São Paulo Auto Show 2025, the Spark EUV is prominently featured in the space of Comexport and the government of Ceará.
The strategy aims to reinforce the message that the model will be assembled in the country.
Sales Growth and Strategic Role for Chevrolet
Launched commercially in the second half of the year, the Spark EUV gained traction among the electrics sold in Brazil.
In August, it registered about 250 sales.
In September, there were approximately 350 units.
In October, the volume rose to 415 cars, bringing the total to 1,026 units.

With this, the compact SUV has become the best-selling electric car from Chevrolet in Brazil.
It surpassed all battery models previously offered by the brand.
The Spark is also now among the best-selling electrics in the country, holding prominent positions in monthly rankings.
Within GM’s strategy, the model serves as an entry point into the automaker’s electric portfolio.
The assembly in Ceará acts as a test for potential new electrification projects in Brazil.
Electric Assembly, Battery, and Equipment of the Spark EUV
The Chevrolet Spark EUV is a compact SUV measuring just over 4 meters in length with an urban focus.
It was developed from the Chinese Baojun Yep Plus and adapted for the Brazilian market.

The front electric motor delivers 101 hp and 18.4 kgfm of torque.
The energy comes from a LFP 42 kWh battery, a technology recognized for its durability.
The official range is 258 km according to Inmetro.
The model accepts charging in alternating current of up to 6.6 kW.
During rapid charging, it reaches up to 50 kW, allowing the battery level to rise from about 30% to 80% in just over half an hour.
The cabin has two trunks, one smaller in the front and a conventional one in the rear.

The vehicle accommodates four occupants.
Among standard features, it offers six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and disc brakes on all four wheels.
It also includes a hill-start assist and a suite of semi-autonomous features with adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and automatic emergency braking.
Price, Nationalization, and Impact for the Consumer
The Spark EUV arrived in the country at R$ 159,990.
Price adjustments have raised the official price to around R$ 167,000 at dealerships.

GM has not announced any price reduction related to the start of assembly in Horizonte.
The SKD operation helps to reduce industrial costs, but the project is approached by the brand as a strategic move.
Local assembly should increase the supply of units, reduce delivery times, and improve parts logistics.
These factors may influence the cost of ownership over time.
Competitive Pressure with the Arrival of the Geely EX2
As the Spark EUV begins assembly in Ceará, the segment welcomes a new competitor, the Geely EX2.

The model debuted with a starting price of R$ 119,990, lower than the price charged for the Chevrolet.
The EX2 uses an electric motor with 116 hp, a 40 kWh battery, and a range of 289 km in Inmetro standards.
It is currently imported but is expected to be nationalized at the São José dos Pinhais (PR) factory, within the Renault Geely partnership.
The Spark will then compete with a cheaper rival that has a similar range.
The market’s behavior regarding the start of assembly in Horizonte will define Chevrolet’s positioning over the next few years.
With the progress of electrification in Brazil, to what extent will production in Ceará help consolidate the Spark EUV and increase consumer confidence in an electric vehicle assembled in the country?
