Telite Will Start Installing Its Roof Tile Factory in Quixadá, Ceará, Soon and the Company’s Estimate Is That 100 Jobs Will Be Created. In Addition, the Project Will Also Contribute to Waste Recyclers in the Region.
Telite announced last Friday (20) that its new plastic roof tile factory in Ceará, which received investments of R$ 15 million, will come to fruition in June. The expectation is that the company’s factory will generate 100 jobs for the state. On June 30, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, named “Telite X Solar,” will take place in Quixadá. By using graphene, these tiles can generate electricity from sunlight, similar to how solar panels work. It is important to highlight that the plastic used by Telite will be fully recycled, potentially generating significant demand and income for recyclers in Ceará.
Telite Will Partner With Federal University of Ceará
According to the CEO of the company, Leonardo Retto, Telite and UFC in Quixadá will establish a partnership for an innovation project involving the development of a management system for scheduling the collection of recyclable waste for the graphene-based solar tiles industry.
The executive stated that this project strengthens the partnership between the University and companies in the Central Sertão, promoting technological development and a direct impact on the quality of work for many people who will be responsible for collecting recyclable materials for the company. The investment in the tile industry, which will create hundreds of new jobs, was facilitated by the Bridges of Opportunities program, aimed at attracting business and sustainable development to the interior of the state.

Next to Brazil, a neighboring country is evaluating a 3.7 km underwater tunnel in one of the most extreme regions of America, a project initially estimated at US$ 1.5 billion that could end the dependency on ferries to reach Tierra del Fuego.
According to Salmito Filho, one of the reasons for the factory being installed in Quixadá is the presence of a university hub in the area and the fact that the industry will develop, with these universities, a technology using graphene for a possible generation of electricity from sunlight using tiles. Another reason for Telite’s solar tile factory moving to the area was the PODE program, which demonstrated excellent public sector conditions with the indispensable support of the Government of Ceará and the City Hall of Quixadá.
Agreement Details Between Telite and the Government of Ceará
The carioca tile company signed the letter of intent last November, and at that time, the plan was to produce graphene tiles, making it the first product in the country with this type of technology.
During this same period, land was already being evaluated, according to Salmito Filho, and the expectation was that the number of jobs created would be about half of the current plans. Employment and income for waste pickers were also expected, with the company planning investments of R$ 1 million in the purchase of these materials.
At the time, Salmito stated that the tile factory would produce the products already made in Rio de Janeiro to sell in the Northern and Northeastern markets in the short term.
Discover Telite’s Solar Tiles
Telite’s graphene tiles are made from high-density polyethylene, and it was through graphene that the company managed to produce 4 solar tiles that could generate 30 Kw per month in a medium-sized home.
According to the company, if the residence uses 4 tiles, it will be possible to become self-sufficient, and if this generation exceeds that, it is possible to sell to the local electricity utility. According to Telite, in addition to generating savings, the graphene tile has a lifespan of up to 80 years, designed to cater to a diverse audience.
