Mid Version of the Electric Hatch, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 Combines Larger Battery, Strong Performance, Refined Interior, Complete ADAS Package, and Competitive Price to Compete for Space Among Compact Electrics in Brazil

The GWM Ora 03 BEV58 arrives in the Brazilian market as one of the most interesting options among the 100% electric compact hatches in the range of 160 thousand reais. With a 58 kWh battery, 171 hp and 25.5 kgfm of immediate torque, the model delivers acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 7 seconds, a top speed limited to 169 km/h, and a declared range of around 400 km on a single charge. In practice, it positions itself as the mid version of the line, sitting above the Skin and below the GT, but with a very attractive combination of range, performance, and equipment.

At the same time, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 tries to solve a complicated equation for compact electrics in Brazil. It offers a robust package of technology, interior finishing that resembles higher category cars, a complete safety set, and a driving dynamics that blends comfort with a certain dose of sportiness. In exchange, it sacrifices trunk capacity, ground clearance, and some exclusive features from the GT version, but still remains one of the models with the best cost-benefit ratio in the segment.

58 kWh Battery and 171 hp Performance

The great technical differential of the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 is the 58 kWh battery. It is larger than that of the Skin version and smaller than that of the GT, but it maintains the same propulsion system. The electric motor delivers 171 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque, always available immediately. This means very quick starts, immediate responses to the slightest touch on the accelerator, and secure overtaking on highways.

Despite being a compact hatch, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 weighs around 1,675 kg, a figure close to that of many compact or even medium SUVs. Still, the set manages to achieve a 0 to 100 km/h in just over 7 seconds, which is excellent performance for its size. In practice, the driving experience feels light and agile, especially when the Sport mode is activated. With stability and traction control turned off, it’s not hard to hear the tires screech during launches, something that can surprise those who have never driven an electric vehicle.

The top speed is limited to 169 km/h, which is more than sufficient for real-world use on Brazilian roads. The car’s focus is not prolonged high speeds, but the combination of strong acceleration, ease of overtaking, and smooth driving in everyday situations, all without engine noise and with virtually no vibrations.

Range and Driving Experience

The promised range of the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 is around 400 km on a full charge, a quite relevant number for an urban compact hatch. In real use, this range varies depending on driving style, selected mode, terrain, and average speed, but the car can deliver a sufficiently comfortable range for daily trips and even shorter vacations. Driving an electric vehicle that allows for 300 to 400 km of real range completely changes the feeling of charging anxiety.

The car has different driving modes, including more economical options and Sport mode, which exploits all available torque. Energy regeneration is also adjustable, and the system includes a driving mode that allows for practically one-pedal driving. When lifting off the accelerator, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 decelerates more intensely, recovering energy for the battery and making urban traffic less tiring.

In suspension tuning, the BEV58 version strikes a balanced point between comfort and firmness. The suspension is softer and more pleasant in the city than that of the GT version, which helps filter out potholes and asphalt imperfections better. At the same time, the car does not feel slack in curves and still conveys safety at higher speeds. The 17-inch wheels with 215/50 tires help with this balance, maintaining good ground contact without compromising comfort too much.

The point to watch out for is the ground clearance. The battery positioned in the floor and the low body make the set more susceptible to scraping over speed bumps, potholes, and steeper ramps, especially with a loaded car. Those who drive in cities with many irregularities need to be especially cautious when tackling obstacles.

Modern Retro Design and Limited Trunk

Visually, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 is a car that does not go unnoticed. The front mixes references from classic and modern models, with round headlights reminiscent of Porsche, Beetle, and Mini Cooper, in addition to a bulging hood with well-defined creases. The result is a compact hatch with a strong visual identity, especially in vibrant colors like Copacabana blue.

The headlights are full LED with a single projector for high and low beam, and the LED DRL contour reinforces the lighting signature, as well as the integrated turn signal around the headlight. A curious highlight is the front symbol in the shape of an exclamation mark, repeated on the key itself, which helps create a striking visual link with the brand and model. The combination of a black roof, black mirrors, and 17-inch wheels completes the look of a modern urban hatch.

At the rear, the design is even more original. The taillights of the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 are embedded in the rear glass, not in the trunk lid as in almost all cars. This solution leaves the rear clean, with a small discrete spoiler and the name GWM engraved on the lid, while the name Ora 03 appears on the side. It is one of the most visually authentic compacts available today, breaking away from the commonplace.

The price to pay for this style and prioritization of internal space is a small trunk, with less than 300 liters. For those who need a lot of volume for luggage, the model is not the most suitable. The good side is that the area is well finished, fully lined, and the latest line brings a temporary spare tire housed under the floor, a feature that many electrics do not offer. For daily urban use with shopping, backpacks, and smaller luggage, it fulfills its role, but it is not a car designed for long family trips with a lot of luggage.

Refined Interior, Space, and Technology

GWM Ora 03 BEV58 offers 58 kWh battery, up to 400 km range, 171 hp, refined interior, and complete ADAS package for around R$ 150 thousand in Brazil.

While the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 stands out externally for its style, inside it surprises with the quality of finish and the feel of a higher category car. The dashboard uses soft-touch materials, with soft-touch strips, visible blue stitching, and brushed steel-tone details. For those accustomed to combustion compact cars in the same price range, the difference in finish is clear.

In the rear, the interior space is pleasing. With the front seat adjusted for someone around 1.67 m tall, there is plenty of legroom and a decent amount of headroom, even with the panoramic sunroof. The GWM Ora 03 BEV58 prioritizes passenger comfort, which is evident in the shape of the seats and good accommodation for two adults in the back, with the possibility of carrying a third passenger on shorter trips.

In front, the environment is dominated by a set comprising the digital instrument panel and the multimedia center, installed side by side in one visual piece. The instrument panel is simple but complete, displaying driving mode, gear position, range, average consumption, regeneration information, tire pressure, and trip data. The reading is easy, and the organization of information avoids unnecessary distractions.

The multimedia system concentrates almost all vehicle controls, including air conditioning, driving modes, and assistance system settings. It is functional, integrates Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and also includes mirroring, brightness adjustments, quick shortcuts, and access to 360-degree cameras. The ergonomics could be slightly better, as the driver needs to stretch a bit to reach the screen, but the system itself delivers what is expected of a modern electric vehicle.

The seats have an interesting design, with blue stitching and a square pattern, reinforcing the feeling of a more sophisticated product. However, the leather could have a more refined texture and softness. The GWM Ora 03 BEV58 also features wireless cell phone charging, a phototropic internal rearview mirror, a central armrest with good storage, USB ports in the front and back, and a double panoramic sunroof that increases the feeling of space and brightens the interior.

There are some cuts compared to the GT version, such as completely manual seat adjustments, absence of a rear armrest, and lack of lighting in the sun visors’ mirrors, but nothing that undermines the overall set. For its price, the level of finish and internal equipment is among the best in the segment.

Safety, ADAS, and Market Position

In terms of safety, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 stands out. The model offers disc brakes on all four wheels with ABS, multiple airbags, including front, side, curtain, and central airbags, in addition to a modern structure that earned high scores in crash tests. The sensation of solidity while driving reinforces this impression of a well-built car, even on uneven surfaces.

In the field of driving assistance, the car comes with a fairly complete ADAS package for its category. The adaptive cruise control is activated by a dedicated command on the lateral stalk, making it easier to use on highways. The lane keeping and centering system works in conjunction with the ACC, helping to keep the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 aligned on the road. Additionally, there is a speed limit sign reader, automatic emergency braking, and front, rear, and side cameras that comprise the 360-degree view.

The BEV58 version maintains rear parking sensors but does not have front sensors, a feature reserved for the GT. It also does not include the automatic parking system present in the top-of-the-line model. Despite this, the combination of 360 cameras and ADAS makes maneuvers and urban driving much safer and more intuitive.

In the Brazilian market, the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 positions itself as a good cost-benefit alternative compared to compact hybrids and electrics. It offers a level of equipment similar to or superior to many combustion and hybrid models in the same price range, with the advantage of typical usage savings of electric vehicles and a much quieter and smoother driving experience.

In the end, the package that reaches the customer is that of a compact electric hatch with strong performance, honest range, well-finished interior, and cutting-edge safety technology, with clear concessions in trunk space and ground clearance, but with a highly competitive overall set.

Would you consider the GWM Ora 03 BEV58 as your first 100% electric car in this price range, or would you still prefer to bet on a hybrid before making this leap to full electrification?
