Audi took the opportunity of the announcement regarding the start of production of the new electric Q3 and Q3 Sportback cars in Brazil to also announce that it will make a significant investment in partnership with its dealerships in the country, aiming to expand the infrastructure of ultra-fast charging stations in Brazil. High Production of Electric Cars in Brazil
Audi has been working for some time to become a manufacturer with a 100% electric vehicle portfolio in the coming years. It is possible that, at some point, all Audi manufacturing units will produce only zero-emission car models.
In 2020, following a partnership with Engie, the German automaker invested approximately R$ 10 million to install two hundred AC charging points of 22kW at various locations in Brazil.
Project for the Implementation and Expansion of Ultra-Fast Charging Units and Increase in the Production of Electric Cars
When asked if there was an intention to produce electric cars on a large scale at the plant in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná, the CEO of Audi stated that it is necessary to think about the right moment to take this important step, but highlighted that there is a concrete plan for it.
During the announcements made last Tuesday, the 14th, at the Audi House of Progress in São Paulo, regarding the production of the new Q3 and Q3 Sportback in Brazil and the investment in ultra-fast charging stations, the Governor of the State of Paraná, Ratinho Junior, was present and highlighted the initiatives of the Paraná Government to support Audi in its plan to ‘electrify’ the city.
The state of Paraná was the first in Brazil to eliminate the IPVA tax for electric cars, valid until the end of 2022. Finally, Johannes Roscheck stated that all electric cars that are compatible with the chargers will be able to refuel without issues at the charging stations that will be installed at Audi dealerships.
