In addition to the units that have already been completed, there is a further 43,032 MW of installed capacity under construction.
O largest photovoltaic energy park in Latin America is being built in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Gurguéia, in Piauí, with around 2,2 million solar panels coming from the company Enel Green Power. According to electrical engineer Brenda Rocha, from the State Department of Mining, Petroleum and Renewable Energy of Piauí, the installed capacity in operation is 747,34 MW. The installed capacity under construction, according to Rocha, is 43,032 MW.
Piauí will have the largest renewable energy park in Latin America
In the units that have already been concluded, there are at least 2.200 workers involved, and another 750 workers who are working in the units that are still under construction. When ready, Piauí's solar energy park will have a production capacity of around 2,3 TWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 1,2 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
Besides the solar energy park under construction, Piauí also has the largest wind energy park in South America, under the command of Enel Green Power, in the cities of Lagoa do Barro and Dom Inocêncio.

According to the report by the Secretary of State for Mining, Petroleum and Renewable Energy – SEMINPER, the park has 230 wind turbines, with an installed capacity of 649,45 MW and around 2.360 workers.
Without a doubt, it is the largest wind farm managed by Enel Green Power, with expansion capacity, capable of generating more than 3,3 TWh per year, preventing more than 1,6 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) from being released into the atmosphere.
Data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), from November 7, 2022, reveal that the installed capacity of hydraulic energy in the state of Piauí is 237,3 MW in operation. In terms of biomass, Piauí has an installed capacity of 23,5 MW in operation.
Piauí is one of the most entrepreneurial states in Brazil when it comes to renewable sources
Piauí has an installed capacity of 3.378,75 MW in operation, 675,5 MW under construction and 567,8 MW to be built in the future, in the wind power.
As for the generation of photovoltaic solar energy – generated by solar panels of companies and parks – Piauí has an installed capacity of 1.249,92 MW in operation, 870,32 MW under construction and 6.793,34 MW to be built in the future.
And finally, in distributed generation, Piauí has 272,73 MW in operation, totaling 24.960 micro and mini plants in 219 cities in Piauí.
Position of the state in the national ranking of entrepreneurs in the energy sector
Currently, Piauí occupies the 3rd place in the ranking of wind energy, for its number of projects in operation, second only to Rio Grande do Norte and Bahia.
According to data from SEMINPER, Piauí is also the 3rd state in the ranking in terms of number of enterprises in operation, construction and construction not yet started.
In the generation of photovoltaic energy, Piauí also occupies the 3rd place in the national ranking in projects in operation, losing to Bahia and Minas Gerais.
