The Honda CRF 1100 L Africa Twin Arrives for Model Year 2024 with New Colors, Maintaining the 99.3 Horsepower Engine and the Technology Package That Establishes It as One of the Leaders in the Big Trail Segment.
The Honda CRF 1100 L Africa Twin is one of the most iconic and desired motorcycles in the Brazilian market. Inspired by the legendary machines that dominated the Paris-Dakar Rally, it combines the robustness of a true adventure bike with the technology and comfort for long trips on asphalt.
According to a complete review of the 2024 model, conducted in partnership with Honda Motor Brazil, the motorcycle maintains its main qualities, presenting only a new color option and graphics as a novelty. The analysis details the performance, technology, and points a potential buyer needs to know about Honda’s most famous big trail.
What Changes in the Africa Twin 2024? The New Colors and the Legacy of the Name
The main novelty of the Honda CRF 1100 L for the 2024 model is the new metallic blue color option, which replaced the white of the previous model. The graphics have also been updated, with the inscription “1100” in a darker shade of blue.

Fiat launches the new 2027 Toro hybrid with 48V, 176 hp, an electric motor of 15.5 hp, a 0.85 kWh battery, up to 7% fuel savings, 8% fewer emissions, and possible exemption from IPVA.
The motorcycle, which was launched in Brazil in 2020 (already as a 2021 model), carries a significant name. The acronym CRF stands for Cross Racing Four (a competition line from Honda), and the name Africa Twin is a tribute to the bikes that won the Paris-Dakar Rally, reinforcing its vocation for adventure.
The Heart of the Motorcycle: The 99.3 Horsepower Parallel Twin Engine

The engine of the Africa Twin is a parallel twin with 1,084cc, featuring a SOHC valve train and eight valves. It delivers 99.3 horsepower and a torque of 10.5 kgf.m, providing ample power for any situation.
The setup works with a six-speed transmission and a slipper clutch, which prevents rear wheel locking during aggressive downshifts.
Cutting-Edge Technology: A Complete Electronics Package
The Honda CRF 1100 L is a motorcycle packed with technology. It comes factory-equipped with:
Electronic throttle and six riding modes (Urban, Tour, Gravel, Off-Road, and two customizable).
Traction control with seven levels, engine brake control, and an anti-wheelie system (which prevents the front wheel from lifting).
6.5-inch TFT display, colored and touch-sensitive (when the motorcycle is stopped).
Connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which mirrors smartphone apps, such as GPS and music, directly on the motorcycle’s screen.
Full LED lighting, cruise control, and USB charging port.
The Two Versions: Standard Africa Twin vs. Adventure Sports

The Honda CRF 1100 L is offered in two main versions in Brazil. The entry-level version, like the one tested, and the Adventure Sports, which is more complete and focused on long trips.
The Adventure Sports is distinguished by having a larger tank (24.8 liters), adjustable windshield, electronic suspension, adaptive headlight for curves, and larger engine and sump guards.
Performance in Practice: Fuel Consumption and Top Speed
The Africa Twin is a high-performance motorcycle. Its top speed is electronically limited to 216 km/h, a mark that, according to the test, the motorcycle reaches with ease.
Fuel consumption varies with riding style:
- Aggressive Riding: Consumption ranges between 10 and 12 km/l.
- Normal Riding: In a more leisurely ride, the motorcycle can achieve between 16 and 18 km/l.
The Price and Points of Attention
The price of the Honda CRF 1100 L in the manual transmission (MT) version has a suggested retail price of R$ 81,100 (excluding freight). However, the price practiced at dealerships is around R$ 89,990.
Despite being very well-equipped, the review pointed out some areas for improvement. The motorcycle is highly sought after for theft, necessitating insurance. The handlebar buttons are not illuminated, which makes nighttime use difficult. And, for a motorcycle in this price range, the absence of a quickshifter (which allows gear changes without using the clutch) in the manual version is a negative point.
