The Postal Service will hire 770 temporary workers by March of this year. These hires will occur before the public competition for the state company, scheduled to take place, as Click Petroleum and Gas published, still this year in 2024.

The information was disclosed by the Interstate Foundation of Workers’ Unions of the Postal Service (Findect), which revealed that during a meeting with the company’s president, Fabiano Silva dos Santos, the Union Entity was informed that the new positions would be filled by March of this year.

According to the announcement, these temporary positions will focus on facilitating activities until the competition for permanent positions is held. Currently, the expectation is that temporary contracts will be made through third-party companies.

According to Findect, the company set a deadline of 30 days for the respective provision. ‘We will carry out’, affirmed the president of the union entity. Recently, the president of the Postal Service stated that the company would conduct a new selection process.

“We have started a working group to discuss PCCS. We will indeed hold a public competition. I know it is a demand, and you are overwhelmed”, he said. On that occasion, however, he emphasized that it is not possible to hold a competition without planning.

“This year I am guaranteeing, we will hold a public competition at the company”, said Fabiano Silva dos Santos. Last year, a draft had already committed to addressing the holding of a new competition as a matter of urgency.

So far, there is no forecast for the specific positions and the number of vacancies that may be made available in the next selection, as these details still require analysis by a committee.

About The Postal Service

The postal service in Brazil began in 1663, with its founding in Rio de Janeiro and the opening of its first branch in Salvador, the then capital.

From the beginning, the Postal Service played a crucial role in handling the circulation of official orders from the Viceroys of Brazil to the provincial chiefs.

The rapid growth of the institution was driven by the increasing need for communication in a large country like Brazil.

Initially dedicated to the dissemination of official documents, the Postal Service soon expanded its activities, playing a fundamental role in the cartography of Brazilian streets.

Over time, the service evolved to include the transportation of small packages, unofficial telegrams, judicial orders, and other announcements. Thus, it became the main means of communication for many Brazilians, playing an essential role in interlinking and efficient communication throughout the national territory.
