FUNAI Public Contest Will Offer Thousands of Jobs in 2025! The Announcement Will Be Released Soon with Opportunities for Various Positions. Find Out Which Positions Will Be Available and How to Prepare.

The National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (FUNAI) has authorized a new public contest aimed at the hiring of temporary employees. The measure was formalized through a joint ordinance from the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) and the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples (MPI). Following the schedule, on January 30, 2025, the announcement of the Simplified Selection Process (PSS) of FUNAI was published, detailing the available positions and requirements for candidates. The examination represents an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking stability in public careers and wishing to work in the protection and development of indigenous communities in Brazil.

Announcement of the FUNAI Public Contest Will Be Released in June

The published document releases 1,938 immediate job openings for fixed-term admission. The focus of the FUNAI contest is to generate activities aimed at the protection and promotion of the rights of isolated peoples and those in recent contact, as well as territorial protection of indigenous lands.

According to the ordinance, the selection for the positions at FUNAI will be conducted through the analysis of curriculum vitae by candidates. The deadline for publishing the announcement has already been determined, along with the available positions.

The ordinance informs that the deadline for the announcement of thousands of job openings at FUNAI is six months from the authorization date. Thus, the Foundation should release the rules for the FUNAI 2025 contest by June. For this to be possible, some actions must be taken.

The first phase is the formation of an Organizing Committee, which consists of a working group made up of agency employees to develop the draft announcement. These individuals will be responsible for determining all the participation and classification rules, as well as the details of the stages and information about the positions.

According to the ordinance, 664 temporary positions at FUNAI will be for operational support activities, in the position of Ethno-Environmental Protection Assistant, for which the minimum educational requirement has not been specified. The other 1,274 opportunities in the FUNAI contest will be aimed at technical support activities for the ethno-environmental protection actions for Indigenous Peoples.

These will be divided into two groups, with the first for candidates with a high school level, in the position of Ethno-Environmental Protection Agent, and the second for professionals with a complete higher education aiming to occupy positions as Ethno-Environmental Protection Specialist (Finalizing Actions or Administrative), Territorial Protection Agent, or Territorial Protection Specialist.

It is worth mentioning that, according to the current salary structure of the Foundation, the salary range for the positions requiring a high school diploma is R$ 5,300 per month. For higher education careers, the salary for those accepted in the FUNAI public contest is around R$ 7,000 per month. Both amounts are to be confirmed in the announcement, referring to a workload of 40 hours per week.

There Will Also Be a FUNAI Contest for Permanent Positions

In addition, the agency has requested the filling of 751 permanent positions at FUNAI in careers requiring medium and higher education, possibly indicating another announcement. However, the request made to the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples in May 2024 has not yet received a response.

The request for this FUNAI public contest aims to hire 283 higher education professionals in the position of Specialist in Indigenism and 468 in the career of Indigenism Technician, which requires a complete high school education. However, there are some caveats regarding the offer.

The first is that the MPI has not yet authorized the release of new positions. Secondly, these same functions are open in the current Unified National Contest, which offered 502 vacancies for the Foundation. As a general rule, a contest cannot offer vacancies for positions that are open in another ongoing examination, as is the case with the CNU.
